I am seriously considering one of these for my next project. If this isn't PT, I don't know what is. Here is the link. here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Opel-Opel-GT-TARGA-OPEL-GT-TARGA-AWESOME-GT-ONE-OF-THE-BEST-EVER-MADE-L-K_W0QQitemZ4565725031QQcategoryZ6390QQrdZ1QQcmdZVi ewItem)

I had one in High school! Brings back a lot of memories. Mine had a Buick Alum V-8 in it with a 4 speed. Thing would fly.

I see them from time to time here in California. I wish my car a body that was half as good!

Thats Freakin cool! Can it fit a V-8? Or maybe a late 80's T-bird Turbo coupe 4banger?

i'd rather have the other opel, what was it the manta? anyway there used yo be one here in town that had some huge flares and at least 8" and 10" wide wheels with a spolier on the back and an air dam up front, it rocked, throw a GN v6 in it with a 5 spd and that would be a super killer little car.

We have one on the side of the building and a GN V6 to go in it! Started on a full chassis for it, switched gears and did the Cmaro instead.

Swedish built Manta with Volvo 4 cylinder turbo and compressor engine.
Hillmerson who is the owner/builder of the car has done everything by himself. No aftermarket kits allowed ;)

Look at the movies and listen to the sound of the engine in the dyno!

There was one of those for sale here a few years ago. It wasn't in nearly as good condition but it was cheap. Those 215 Buick V8's were very quick, and being all aluminum they made for a very light car that drove nice. Plus they look great!

I am thinking SVO 4 banger turbo with scratch built suspension. It is so small I don't know what would retrofit for drivetrain.

I used to rally an ex-works (Tony Pond) Opel Manta 400. Thing was awesome, flares, 8" and 10" wheels (15" diameter back then)
Had a stroked 2.6 litre 4 cyclinder, dual dellorto's..........most fun I ever had in a car.

My first car at 16 was an Opel GT, 50 series wheels sticking out the rear. Great memories. Smoked the Fiat Brava's and 2002's in the parking lot. Always have a spot for them.

Nick, What you doing Sunday ? Show ? Next Sat AM we are going to meet the PT guys at Marcus in the AM.

Almost didn't recognize you driving a Pontiac yesterday.

Heck if I know. I'll have to make a run over there and ask. You serious?

Depends on the money. The prices on ebay are all over the place for drivers. I would prefer non running, minimal rust project. Missing drivetrain would be ok too.

I know this thread is old, but I was checking out cars for sale in my area and came across this very cool 1970 Opel GT, did a search here and founf this thread. Id check it out for myself but a SVO motor swap is out of my league.

Pretty cool looking, would be even better with some taller rims and a engine swap.

Heres the ad if anyone is interested.
