We'll start with these questions and go from there....

How is the chassis going to be used ??

How much does the chassis weigh ??

What transmission and modifications are you going to use ??

What spring rates are you going to use ??

How much TQ is your power plant going to make ??

But in round numbers, I have run 500hp/475tq thru a DANA 36 with both a manual and an automatic. The suspension was spring pretty well and it was gear accordingly (3.73 to 4.10) and it never really hooked hard enough to break parts. Like the point I was getting at, how is it going to be used ??

Lots of guys break Dana 36's behind modified c4 corvettes. Most end up switching to the Dana 44. For a car that doesn't get drag raced or have 500+ ft-lbs of torque going through it they can live, but there isn't as margin as with the Dana 44.

Good luck
