Hi all,
I have a question for those of you using airbags. What pressure do you normally run in your front and rear bags? I am using a Cool Ride setup on my 65 Chevelle with an LT1. When I had airride on my 92 Caprice I used to run about 90-100 PSI. The Chevelle weighs about 1000lbs less and when I run 90 PSI on it it looks like a 4x4. Good ride height is at about 70 PSI but I am riding the fence as to whether to install 2" lowering spindles. My concern is that it will sit too low and then I'm gonna have to run high pressures to get it to lift enough. I'm still playing around with different air pressures to try to determine the best ride feel but I was curious as to what everyone else uses. Thanks.

Alex

I would talk to the folks at RideTech. They've done several Chevelles and could give some good perspective on pressures and ride heights. They've always been really helpful when I've talked to them.

Alex,

Every car is a little different on what air pressure it will take do to many variables. For instance A/C car versus non A/C car. With an A/C car you have the compressor hanging off the front of the engine, condensor in front of the radiator, plus all the lines. The A/C car will take a little more air pressure, not a lot more, but it will take more. The same can be said big block versus small block, big block will take more air pressure. When camparing 2 different types of cars it will be different due to the suspensions motion ratios. The way I like to start out is to deflate the car to its lowest setting and measure the fender lip to the ground at the wheel center, then inflate the car up 3 inches. This is just a starting point, every person prefers a little bit different ride quality. Don't be afraid to play with the air pressures to get the ride quality dialed in to your liking.
