Can someone tell me the difference between gen 1 steering components? I was looking at part numbers and there are a lot.
I thought 67 to 69 camaro or firebird used the same subframe and steering parts.... (speaking for V8 w/powersteering)
My 67 bird has a 69 camaro subframe and I'm trying to order new steering parts....

Lots of good info and part numbers on David Pozzi's site: http://pozziracing.com/first_gen_suspension.htm

Order 69 Camaro parts for it as long as your engine clears the linkage. 67 & 68 birds used Camaro linkage, but 69 Firebirds used a raised center link, pitman, & idler arm.

The Firebirds also used a curved pitman arm. This was to clear some exhaust manifold applications.

If you are going to use a traditional Pontiac V-8, you will need the 67-68 curved Pontiac pitman arm. Performance years has the best price on these. I would then get a 68' idler arm as the 67' is a one year deal and is really expensive. I would source it all minus the pitman arm thru DSE as they list all the Moog items for these cars. If you are going Chevy motor than I would purchase all 68' Camaro items, including pitman arm. As far as 69' Firebird items I would stay away from them. The only common items with Camaro are the tie rod ends. Idler, Pitman, and centerlink are one year items for a Firebird.
