HOT ROD MAGAZINE CELEBRATES 65 YEARS WITH A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME HOMECOMING SHOWSince 1948, Hot Rod Magazine, founded by the legendary Robert Petersen, has elevated the fastest, coolest, most heart-racing performance vehicles to star status on its cover and in feature stories on inside pages. On Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24, 2013 at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, Hot Rod will celebrate its 65th anniversary by bringing those historic pages to life with the Hot Rod Homecoming. This once-in-a-lifetime gathering of cars featured on the cover and inside the magazine over the years is open to the public and promises to be a car show unlike any other. In addition, there will be acres of space at the show devoted to memorabilia, a performance marketplace, and an outdoor area reserved for enthusiasts who will bring their customized, restored, and modified performance vehicles to share in this spectacular weekend.

Hundreds of historically significant performance machines including cars, trucks, and even boats and bikes will be on display inside the enormous Building 4 at the Fairplex. These vehicles will bring to life a stunning visual chronicle of the 65 years that Hot Rod has covered the fastest machines of their era along with one-off modifieds, nostalgic customs, and the most beautifully restored cars the world has to offer.
David Freiburger, the current Editor-in-Chief of Hot Rod said: "The Hot Rod Homecoming is all about bringing those 65 years of feature cars together for one big party. The historic site is the location of the very first NRHA drag race and the home of the NHRA Winternationals. It's also the current location of the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, The LA Roadsters' show, and the Grand National Roadster Show. Road races were held there, in the ‘50's and ‘60's, and the parking lots around the fairgrounds served as the location for the photo shoots of many Hot Rod magazines of the same era." Jeff Dahlin, Publisher of Hot Rod continued: "A gathering of history's greatest performance cars, as pictured in Hot Rod Magazine, has never happened before and may not again for quite a while. This is a once-in-a-generation extravaganza is truly going to be a sight to behold, and we're extremely excited about it"
All of the top celebrity car builders, customizers, and fabricators who have had their machines featured over the years in Hot Rod are being invited, and many will be available for autographs. Other featured areas at the Hot Rod Homecoming will be a Show Car Alley, a Performance Midway, a Burnout Contest, and a Hot Rod Pin-up Contest. An awards ceremony will cap this one-time-only, not-to-be-missed weekend.
The search is on and the invitations are now out for vehicles from the pages of 65 years of Hot Rod. David Freiburger said: "While the whereabouts of many former Hot Rod Cars are well known, there are hundreds more that have lost the spotlight. At the Homecoming, any vehicle that has appeared on ay page of Hot Rod is welcome. It does not matter if the car looks like it did when it was in the magazine or not: all that matters is the provenance." Those with such vehicles are invited to register for the limited amount of indoor space at http://www.hotrodhomecoming.com/ or send an email to [email protected].
