74 z-28 all original and staying that way.
he wants to do 18's and on a small budget. $250 or less per wheel. Give me some ideas to throw at him. Thanks in advance!

Year one makes some 17 inch rally castings that look sharp on these Chevrolet f-bodies you may want to consider as the car is all original.
Do you want something conservative and tasteful or something that "pops"?

Not sure, probably conservative and tasteful.

Ridler wheels or Boss wheels. Look up the "red solo car" build. His new wheels look awesome.

Disclaimer: This is my two cents on the matter and may or may not upset some users.
I'm a big fan of paying homage to the original wheels with a larger diameter aluminum repo or similar looking wheel, especially if the rest of the car is original.
Not a big fan of torque thrusty looking 5-spokes as they scream "I didn't know what wheels to buy so I bought 5 spokes torque thrusts like everyone else."
I like these even though they are 17s and 5-spokes: https://www.yearone.com/Catalog/Filter?bpid=33&tags=|162|17639
EDIT: pics of the car in question would certainly help.

I wish this forum had a like button...lol I want to scream everytime I see a TT style wheel. But that being said...$250 a wheel isn't going to get you much so......

The thing you have to take into consideration is the era and lines of the car. There are not many wheels in 18" that will look good on that car for that price which are not repro's. Just my two cents...

well since we are adding two cents, mine is just the opposite....
nothing looks as awfull as original rally wheels. and nothing screams "I didn't know what wheels to buy so I just left the factory wheels on like the resto purists" as loud as rallys.
the boss 338's are a nice wheel for the money. if someone wants the original look with no mods, why upgrade sizes unless you need the room for bigger brakes?

$250 a wheel in an 18 diameter should provide someone with a nearly endless supply of wheels to choose from. Back spacing may be limited at 18 by 8 but at 18 by 8.5, there are a fair amount of options out there.
A few minuets shopping around on ebay and a bit more time photoshoping the wheels onto the car in a free program like paint.net and you're good to go.
EDIT: 2nd gen f-body back spacing chart.

I never said there are not a lot of wheels to choose from in that price point, what I said is there are not a lot of wheels that will look good on this particular car.... I would take the Boss 338 or Rocket Racing Booster and run.
