We can do that, all of our consoles are available with a glove box, cup holders, and shifter plates.
This console will also be available with custom gauge panel.

Looking forward to seeing one optioned out like the 2nd gen one in your other post and dimensions on your website. I assume it will be priced similar to the 2nd gen one?? Good job - you guys are doing awesome work!!

Thanks David. This one will be the same price and have the same options as the Gen 2 console.
We will have this one complete when we finish the gauge/shifter panel. We will start with a 6 gauge panel and
a blank panel. I should have pictures of this console with all of the available options next week.

Next week we are creating some panels that fit in the flat area on this console, the first one is a six gauge
panel for a customer and the second is a blank panel.
I would like to know what you would mount in this console, other than the shifter. The panels we are making cover the area where the shifter mounts as well as the area that runs up to the dash.
Our goal is to develop 4 or 5 options.

Thanks,
Mike

For me, I'm looking for something with a storage compartment / armrest. Also want to mount power window/lock switches in it and a head unit with navigation.

We're using an MCI center console in the Tommy Camaro. High quality stuff.

I cut my own single DIN, T56 shifter, and power window switch openings. It's sooo much easier with fiberglass than steel or aluminum.

Naturally, I used FabBosses to mount it.

I want the storage compartment/armrest too, and cupholders, and I do like the little "cavity" for cell phone or other electronic device between the armrest and cupholders on the Gen 2 version. I doubt I will have navigation so I would probably just run 2 5/8" Auto Meter guages in the area under the ashtray. Would a 5 guage layout (3 above - 2 below) work in this area. How about angled toward the driver?? Also, would there be a way to "pebble grain" the center part to match the dash pebble grain - that would look awesome!

John - do you have any pics of your FaBoss mounting for the console??

Thanks,
David

It looks like the 2 5/8" gauges (3 over 2) will fit, I should have some pictures by the end of the week.
We have 4 panels roughed in, a 2 1/8"gauge (3 over 3), the 2 5/8" (3 over 2), a panel with a DD nav
recess and a blank panel. The nav panel will also have optional recesses for 2 round Vintage air vents.

Here are the first two gauge panels, one is a 6 gauge panel, the other is a 5 gauge panel. They were just cut on Friday so they may appear a little rough. all of the parts in this set of pictures are master patterns, they are not actual parts.
We should have the final finish done on the panels Tuesday so we can make the molds.
There are 2 other panels in development, I will have pictures of them soon.

Yes, I can make a plate for this shifter. We can build the console complete with the shifter installed if necessary.
We have a few of these being installed right now, I should be able to get some finished pictures in soon. We have an
old Gen 1 F body we use to build these consoles, I will set it up in that body to get you guys some pictures of it in a car.

I have been working on the fitment of the new MCI first gen console. Here are a couple of pictures for those that have been waiting. This is the first one made I believe. Great quality piece. The shifter came out exactly. Probably need to change the angle of the face for the radio mount going forward. The double den radio bottomed out before going in all the way. I enlarged the opening and tilted it forward. I am finishing out the gaps with the fiberglass scarps from where I cut the holes. More pics probably tomorrow.

Tracy,

I can am make a panel for the double din that sets it back at the bottom rather than out at the top.
We had planned to make a full panel for that set up, a shifter panel and double din panel in one. Let me know if you need one, I can push it up on the schedule.

I have the gen 2 console, which ironically I am installing in a gen 1. The quality of this product can't be beat. And as was said, fiberglass is sooo much easier to work with for fitting etc. than metal. Worth every penny.

Mike, can I ge thtis console with a glove box and cellphone pocket, but NOT a cupholder?

The back of the cup holder is the front of the cellphone pocket. I can make one with just the glove box and I am sure we can come up with a solution for the cellphone pocket without a cup holder if that is what you are looking for.

That would be very helpful to alot of us Mike. By the look of T-squared post, I'm a little concerned about my shifter location too. I'm running a D&D Viper T-56 and my shifter is almost straight across from my steering wheel. I thought I saw in this thread or the 2nd gen thread that you could shorten the glove box and move the cupholders back. Is that possible?? I'm really diggin the 5 guage insert!! Also, what is the vertical distance from the shifter opening to the top of the tranny tunnel/carpet?

I am running a LS conversion with a T56 from Hurst Drivelines. Spacing came out almost dead center. It is fairly shallow from the carpet to the top face. I will measure tonight. Also, I have a shifter plate that is not installed yet. I am waiting to finish a couple of mistakes I made.

How does the center dash piece secure to the dash?
Does it replace the factory a\c \ stereo bezel?

Hi Mike,
How does the center dash piece secure to the dash?
Does it replace the factory a\c \ stereo bezel?

There are 1/4-20 studs on the back off the panel.
We are making optional plates that have dedicated spots that correct the angle for gauges, a/c heater controls, stereo/nav units, switches, vents, etc...
The plates mount over the flat area, similar to the way our shifter plate mounts on our consoles.

Quick question, what car did you install this console in? Is it a 1st gen Camaro? Also which quicksilver shifter model did you use here? Is it the universal mount one, or is it the quicksilver model that is designed for the 1968 Camaro console?

There seems to be a couple of unhappy campers with Modern Classic Interiors. I'm not sure all the issues have been resolved but guys are complaining they never received their parts etc. I wanted to purchase a console as well. Too many negative threads on MCI.

Mr Nick
12-10-2016, 08:11 AM
That is unfortunate. Any if it's true, also part of the reason that 'big box stores' are so popular, much less risk for the consumer. Ordering interior products by TMI via Summit Racing for example.

So if someone is interested, If I do go in another direction, you could buy mine, instead of waiting months to receive one. The quality of the parts are truly top notch.
