1st gen SBC oil pan gasket question.

I have been installing the standard four piece pan gaskets on my 1st gen SBC builds for 40 years with no problems. Recently I ran across a one piece Fel-Pro rubber/steel gasket that I'm interested in trying. Anyone have any experience positive or negitive with these SBC one piece pan gaskets?

I say "if it ain't broke" don't fix it... Obviously your good at sealing up a pan .. Font mess with a good thing...

i know a few guys that like them and a few that don't, but i've yet to see one leak.

I used a Felpro one piece gasket on my last build. I loved it after years of installing the 4 piece gaskets. Plus they are reusable.

They work great and again ^^^ you can reuse them!!

I used it with good results. Some like the black Mr. Gasket one better due, I believe, to it being a little more flexible.

I've got one on my 50 and its the only thing that doesn't leak :)

I think its one of the best inovations for the classic SBC. I love them. I've only used the fel pro one.

For reference I have not had any luck with this type of gasket on my BBCs. Seems a few years (mine in particular) do not like the one piece blue ones. Not really sure where the difference is, but I ran into trouble around the front and rear caps. Would not fit at all. Further research with Summit confirmed this. No idea on the date range, but I asked them to specify this in their catalog as they would not take it back because it was used. I highly doubt they did so. My block is a 74 replacement 454 block. Who knows?!?

I have a Canton blue rubber one piece oil pan gasket sitting in the box, brand new. I was gonna use it on an engine rebuild about two years ago but a guy bought the motor "as is" from me so its been sitting on the shelf. If you want it just shoot me what you think is a fair price for it. I will ship it to you free of charge. The one piece designs are great in my opinion. Its for a 350 small block chevy.
