Hey everyone! I'm Roman, I'm 14, and my dad and I are starting a pro-touring '73 Nova project for me to drive to high school. My dad is Ben, "SRD art" here on the forum. His car habit finally rubbed off on me earlier this year when I started helping him work on his Pumkinator wagon- https://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.php?80582-Pumkinator-A-G-Body-G-Machine-grocery-getter...

I work after school part-time with my dad at Bulldawg Muscle Cars, trying to pick up how to work on old cars. I also have a hobby of making short films that I post on Youtube, mostly Jason Bourne type stuff. My goal in life is to become a cinematographer and eventually a film director. My dad is crazy nuts about cars, not sure I'll be that way but I look forward to owning and racing more muscle cars in the future.

I went to the Run Thru The Hills event with dad this year as a spectator, and the other day we went to the Detroit Speed open house. They were awesome! I am looking forward to being able to start racing myself and thrash all you old farts! j/k, lol! Good to be on the forum and you guys and so many cool cars, especially the Novas!

A Nova hatchback sounds like a great project. You sound like you have your head on straight, so hopefully you have figured out that sharing a hobby with your dad is a pretty cool thing. Even if you don't turn out to be as big of a car guy one day, you will thank him for teaching you some mechanical skills. It gets expensive to pay somebody to do something and I am glad my dad taught me how to work on cars and basic carpentry and home improvement stuff. Post up a link to your youtube account so we can see your work.

Roman,

Welcome to the board. My 74 Nova Hatchback is my first car. I was only a year older than you are now when I bought it. Although it is old and in the process of a complete rebuild, it was only 4 years old when I picked it up from a local used car lot.

What most people don't know is that the weight distribution on the 73 and 74 Hatchbacks is pretty good, and better than the F-bodies. And all the first gen F-body suspension goodies bolt right on.

I am eager to see the progress on your project.

Good to have you on board kiddo, and I am really looking forward to finally putting your car together. Not so much to have another Nova in the family but more important to spend time with you. That car is gonna rock!
