Here we go. Direct injection. The future is here. This technology will make 2 hp/c.i. a baseline, and the most efficient burn rates ever. Thank god for NASA, and the space race. The material technology needed to do this is amazing. 2000 psi in the rails, more than 2500 degrees and 4000 psi of combustion pressure, and the injector servives. Not science fiction any more. BAD A$$

Yes, these are exciting times for this industry and I seriously can't wait to see these mills getting dropped into project vehicles. Ten bucks says Rupp will get the first crate to put into Penny, LOL.

Anybody wanna buy an LS3? I got rid of an LS2 before I finished because I found a deal on an LS3, now I just have to find a deal on one of these. Looks pretty cool to me.

I'd hang on to the LS3. This engine is different enough from the gen 3 and 4 that its going to take the aftermarket some time to ramp up.

Agreed for now. For example, we don't know what the retro-fit needs are going to be yet for the fuel system. For a simple retro-fit it should be easy, but going bigger is going to require knowing what the capabilities are for the high-pressure pump.

This is the best time in history to be a car-guy. The cars, technology, capability, and quality available today are insanely good.

If anybody wants to dump their dinosaur LS motor i'll be more than happy to take it off their hands. You hear me bad penny, red devil. You all need to get rid of those old school motors and step up to the new.

Believe me, I was just joking around. For my needs the LS3 will be overkill for me.

What is somewhat disturbing is what I'm reading about the ECM being somewhat difficult to crack. The european car guys have to deal with ECMs that require expensive tools that are out of reach of the average hobbyist. HP Tuners has still not cracked the Mopar ECM.

It's a bit ironic how the accessory drive look a lot like the 93-97 LT1 in the F-body. Seeing what they are getting out of the LS engines, can't wait to see what they can get out of this one.

Placing the injectors under the manifold really cleans up the top side for those that don't run the factory plastic covers.
The intake ports have been raised, a lot. I wonder how much power they are worth and how long it will be before they wind up on a non-direct injected engine.
As for the computer, it may be easier to use a different computer than to try and crack the factory stuff.

I am with Vengeance on this one, he will be first in line. Either way I can't wait to see the numbers once they are tweaked.

Maybe Stielow will get one and do a second gen build this time since there was a second gen motor designated the LT-1.

We are an indy and do a ton of BMW service and the direct injection is pretty darn nice. But the HP pumps are prone to failure and they are not cheap.
As for tuning, piggybacks are popular on the BMW's. They make good power but they keep the lights off the dash and pass inspection. A JB4 can make a good bit of power on the N54 which is a twin turbo straight six. We've seen upwards of 200hp increase at the wheels with a jb4, meth and downpipes.
