I have a problem, I have hooked up the main post directly to the starter and the small wire to a switched 12 source(Not sure if this is correct it just says ignition). When I turn the key it engages the pinion, when I actually turn it all the way (Like starting the car) The pinion goes back to the normal position.

Am I hooking this up correctly, what am I doing wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like you have the starter hooked up to the run position or a bad ignition switch.

I did the same thing with my ignition module. Make sure that you've hooked up the starter to a circuit that supplys 12 volts(10 after the voltage drop) in the start position, rather than the run position as mike said.
