I love the higher end stuff like Forgeline, Boze, HRE and Rushforth but they are around $1K per wheel for an 18". What other brands are out there that would be more in the $500/wheel? I really like the look of the zx3's and similar.

Take a look at Weld Wheels RT-S series wheels. They are available in any width and offset you could ever want at reasonable prices and they are made in the USA.

Not a ton of styles but CCW makes a nice 3 piece wheel for less than the brands mentioned.

I really like the CCW wheel for the money!
Not the style you are looking for but I thought I would throw this out since you are running vintage tin. I just picked up a set of MB Old Schools (modern wide lip Torque thrust look) (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MBW-23199) for $129.99 fronts and $133.99 rears from Summit after price matching Discount tire. Thats for 17x8 front and 17x9.5 rear. I had planned on going 18s but ran into a SMOKING deal of $87 for BFG G-force Comp 2's (http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-selector/category/sports-performance-tires/g-force-sport-comp-2/tire-details) at Costco on a in store deal. Running 245x40 17 front and a 275x40 17 rear. Mounted and balanced I'm going to be right at $915 plus $55 for lugs. Thats saving me $800 over the best deal I could find for similar in style Boss with Fulken tires in 18's.
Most places price match so look hard for deals. If you are going to auto cross then yes go for better/lighter wheels. In my case a 4k convertible just isnt going to be competitive so I wont loose much with the heavier wheels but it will still be a 100% better then the Rally II's its wearing now.

Been looking at the same thing..... ccw and 43 are at the top of my list right now. Let me know what you find... I did find a thread "Little known wheel" search for that.. lots of good links there..

Team III wheels have some classic styles in just about any width/size configuration and will run $350-$500 per wheel.
Give us a call we can get you in a set of Budniks for that price.

I think CCW wheels are direct. I am going to have to build about 10 cars to accomodate all of the wheels I like. Rushforth and CCW both have my eye currently. I have thought about the Weld wheels for track tires at some point if I get to the point where I am needing track tires.

Raceline makes some nice wheels in that price range. I just ordered a set of their 239 GT wheels for my camaro, and they honored the sale price even though they had to custom build my wheels. Greg Wells was quick to respond to emails and answered all my questions.
