This 1967 Chevelle came to Schwartz Performance as a complete running & driving car. Through a full tear-down and rebuild, we are transforming it into an outrageous street machine with a new G-Machine Chassis, 1900hp NRE engine, airride, etc. This will be, essentially, a brand new supercar when it leaves Schwartz Performance Inc. (https://www.facebook.com/SchwartzPerformance?ref=stream)

The plan:

Okay, so there is no more horsepower competition. You've not won it, but made it completely pointless to try. Thank you for being the steroid-freak knife expert in a death match. All I ask is for a Nurburgring effort--with all that money in parts and labor, surely somebody could kick down for shipping. You might even be able to compete with that Holman-Moody Fairlane that embarrasses turbo Porsches, or not... If there's a wreck, we might be able to use that motor in a stunt plane or something...

Please tell me this thing will be driven (and tested), and not enclosed in some d-bag's glass case until 2030.

I commend your pursuit of automotive craziness, Mr. Schwartz and company. Please continue.

Looks like a Nova front bumper? Nice car and upgrades for sure, does the owner planned on two rear spare tires? Wonder how he is going to put all this power with only two tires!

Insane!

Thanks! We can't be sure what the owner will do with the car but, he's a relatively young guy and most of our G-Machine Chassis go to people who care a lot about the driving experience (which is what our G-Machine Chassis is all about!), so there a strong likelihood these tires will be replaced often. :twothumbs:

These 345/35/18 "ET Street" radials by Mickey Thompson have a treadwear rating of 000... :headbang:

To put this in perspective, most of the tires we run on our 1000hp cars have a treadwear between 200-300

Why the ET streets on the front? How do those handle lateral G's?

Also, what are the large-diameter "pots" in the intercooler piping?

Great work as always, and one of my favorite cars to boot!

Using the drag radials on all four corners was a trick Jeff learned with his old 82 "Cadillac Attack" that won the Car Craft Street Eliminator. It's a nice setup for "do it all" type cars. Obviously, you have great launch control, but it also offers outstanding breaking performance and really lets you take full advantage of our 14" 6-piston Baer brakes. For dragstrips, we would (almost) over-inflate the front tires to minimize contact patch, and for autocross or roadcourse, we would simply run a slightly higher PSI than normal to stiffen the sidewalls. The downside is that they wear really fast... again, the treadwear rating is 000

The "pots" in the intercooler piping are the Air:Water intercoolers. There is a separate heat enchanger underneath the car that cools the water, then the cool water cools the intake air.

Let me back up, and start from the beginning...

When we first received this 67 Chevelle from California, it appeared to be a decently clean car...

We removed the old floppy chassis and engine:

But looks can be deceiving... After sand-blasting, we found a lot of issues. It needed a lot of rust repair. New quarter panels were a must.

Absolutely amazing, I am looking forward to video of the engine running and the car on the track. I am building a 67 Elky, so I am always looking for ideas, but 1900 horses makes my wishlist seem trivial. LOL. Great looking project. Drooling here.

For those wanting to see these engines in action, just go to NRE's website or youtube. They have a lot of videos of the engines being dyno'd and driven in different cars on the street. It's insane.

Yes, we run it under the rear-end often, but it was absolutely necessary on this Chevelle because of the airride.
