How stock are the Corvette upper and lower control arms on an Art Morrison subframe for a second gen Camaro? Can one use these parts from a used Corvette? Is the hub bearing a stock Corvette piece? What is the DSE steering rack they use origonally designed to fit?

The arms spindles and bearing assemblies are just bolted on. 100% oem from a C6 Vette. Only mod is cutting off steering arms and bolting on the new ones

What is the Detroit Speed rack and pinion steering gear designed to fit other than the AME subframe? Can this rack be purchased from DSE directly or is there a vehichle that it is designed to fit.

Have you tried contacting Matt Jones at AME? He is "Sliver 69 Camaro" on here, and he's always very helpful with this stuff.

It might be a Mustang II rack.

I know the Art Morrison frames and JRS frame use a rack based off of a fox body mustang. They have C6 spindles as well as a DSE frame so it could be the same on all 3?

The AME frame uses the narrow rack that DSE offers if I'm not mistaken.
I may be wrong so you should confirm with them first.

I don't think AME is interested in giving out too much information because they want to sell you the complete subframe with suspension and steering rack. Not many can afford that. That is why I would like to purchase a subframe and get the suspension and steering rack cheaper elsewhere but at the same I must do my homework so it all works together.

I know for a fact if you go to a parts store and get a rack for a 92 mustang GT it will be right...

Hey vud3.

AME is actually very reasonable with there prices I think. They will sell you a bare subframe for about $3250 I think. The DSE rack is $550, and the steering arms are $450.
You can source the suspension locally or from ebay for another $1000 or so. That brings you to about $5200.
I think that's pretty good. I'm sure if you buy a subframe from them they will tell you the original equipment source.

Since AME cuts the steering arm off the Corvette knuckle and makes a new bolt on steering arm does AME sell the new bolt on steering arm seperate?

Im pretty sure ame will not sell anything separate. Jake's Rod Shop is one of the few that will.

IMO, by the time you run around collecting all these parts from the various vendors, you would be money and time ahead to purchase the entire package from AME. Also, if you collect the parts yourself, you will have no one to contact for technical support should you run into problems.
