Do you have the VDO sending unit or different? I will measure mine for you if it is the same. My tank is brand new and Hector sounded like this sending unit was a new offering or upgrade.

Yes its a VDO, I just dont know what size threads they tapped in the tank...

BTW I dont like my VDO....I checked it and set-up according to the instructions, it reads 12 ohms empy when placed in the tank. The float doesnt bottom out while installed...

On the bench check it reads Zero empty ~96 full.

That sounds to me like you have two reasons to call Ricks to me. One to confirm the thread size/pitch and one to ask them about your sending unit giving a false level. I would rather have a sending unit cause the fuel gauge to display a false or premature empty tank than to give false confidence. Where does the 12 ohms put your fuel level on the gauge? Is full "past full" by a similar distance?

My sending unit is held in by #10-32tpi x .75" long button head black oxide machine screws or bolts depending on your definition. They had thread dope on them and I was once told by Performance Stainless to use Loc-Tite 567 for SS parts with dissimilar metals so that is what I used when I put it back in.

I'd be interested in hearing what Ricks says about your sending unit situation. I will try to remember to bring a meter home to ohm mine empty now.

Bend the float arm to calibrate empty.
