I've been researching for a while and have not come to a conclusion, can I fit a 20x12 on the rears of a 1972 chevelle without mini tubs, I am not worried about cutting or rolling the lip as I know this is inevitable. I have read that people have put 20x11 and have they have stated that it was tight but still had very little room left. I know with this set-up there will be no room for error, so I'm looking for people who know for a fact this will work or will not work.
Thanks

You could probably squeeze a 20x12 wheel in there but not a tire wider than a 305 or so depending on height. I have a 20x10 with 295/40/20 on my 71 Chevelle and it is a tight fit. I shouldn't have any rubbing with the suspension articulating but if I went wider there would have definitely been an issue. I am going to knock down to a 295/35 or 295/30 before my car is on the road.

Taking in from what Chevelle598 said, and you knowing some kind of body/fender well work is need, you will need to get some spot on measurements of your body, brakes and suspension to make calculations to figure out whether you can or cannot run 12's out back without mini tubbing. Hopefully a Chevelle owner with 11-12" wide rear wheel can chime in.

If all numbers man. Get the measurements and take it from there.
