Sorry for the delayed reply. Been busy with a SEMA project and was hoping we would have our updated website up by now. We still have some parts in stock and have more coming. We sold quite a few of these new parts already, but I anticipate them all be big sellers once we get them up on our site and start advertising them. Fow now, anyone interested, please call us and talk to Tracy. He can quote pricing and answer any questions. Based on sales of these parts, we will gauge if we should make similar parts for other cars. Unfortunately, none of these parts will be at this year's SEMA show, but should make it next year as well as other shows throughout 2013.

I want a front valence/ spoiler/ whatever with light pods for my chevelle to match the hood and trunk. Do you happen to have any as-yet-unadvertised products for 68-72 A bodies by any chance?

What kind of weight saving is these fenders vs the original steel version? I also wonder what kind of weight savings if a car replaced the hood, valence, and fenders with your carbon fiber products.

I want that lower valance for my Camaro, when will they be available?
hotwheels
11-30-2012, 07:37 AM
Everything is available now. We are in the middle of revamping our web site, so none of these items are up on our site yet. Please call us for pricing and availability. We are only making these parts using the dry carbon (pre-preg) cured in an autoclave technique which means they are the best quality, highest strength, lowest weight composite parts available in the world! Weight savings is approximately 1/5th the weight of original steel parts.

Yeah, that's what we need. Not just 70 parts...68/69 parts is what we need.

How much for the front spoiler, I need one..
hotwheels
12-26-2012, 01:29 PM
The front air dam/spoiler will only fit a '69 Camaro, but if you wanted to modify it to fit a 67 or 68, you could do so if you took one of our fiberglass ones and cut and modified it to fit. I would only suggest this for someone who's had experience in working with composites (fiberglass). The firewall cover will fit 67-69. All of the other parts mentioned in this thread are meant for the 69 only.

Regarding the firewall cover, do you have installation instructions? How do you recommend attaching it to the firewall? Also, I'll be installing a Vintage Air system, so do I need to install VA's plate to cover up the AC opening first (original AC model)? What about windshield wiper motor (I have a DSE wiper kit). Do I need to remove front clip/fenders, or can I just unbolt and slide the clipforward a couple of inches?

I designed it to fit both the stock and the DSE wiper motors. It may be mounted using hardware of your choice (most likely, stainless), or it can be bonded right to your firewall using a panel bond adhesive or a really good epoxy. Personally, I think some nice stainless button head screws would make it pop. You may want to put some spacers or washers behind the raised areas of our cover, so as to not crush it. the easier route would be to use the screws in the flat areas in the corners of the raised ribs. That way you don't need to use any spacers or washers. Same goes with anything else you want to mount to it. As far as lining it up on your firewall, it pretty much is self aligning with the contours on a stock firewall. If you loosen your fenders enough, you should be able to slide them forward enough to slide our piece past the mounting flanges that attach to the firewall. You would need to loosen all the bolts and remove the ones that you need to sneak past on the firewall. If you attach it with screws, it is highly recommended that you use a sealant like that tar-like strip sealer aroung the perimeter so that fumes from the engine compartment don't find their way into the passenger compartment. If you use a bonding agent, then just make sure you put a bead all the way around the perimeter that makes contact with the firewall all the way around. I suppose you could also wipe a bead of sealant or silicone around the perimeter once it's on.

I know I'll probably be burned for blasphemy, but are there any pics yet of this front end painted with grill (pref RS) installed?
Hmm, pre-preg makes the best product. Simply not true. Pre-preg may be the fastest and easiest for a beginner to consistently and repeatedly lay, but it is significantly higher in cost to purchase as material, significantly more expensive to cure (requires an autoclave), no stronger than a properly hand laid composite, and is significantly more prone to conditions that lead to delamitation.
The F-22 Raptor and Joint Strike Fighter are made from hand laid carbon-carbon composite. I'm pretty certain if pre-preg made the best product, thats what Lockheed would be using on their 388 Billion dollar JSF project.
So with that misinformation aside, I think it is beautiful work. Although beautiful, these components should be painted. The weight savings of carbon over glass is minimal and although worth the cost in aerospace or high dollar racing. With the eisting competition in lightweight low cost fiber product, I am a bit shocked that you found enough market to introduce this product line to the less exotic musclecar market segment. You really have to go past the supercar and to the hypercar market to really see extensive carbon use. And then you are getting the best quality hand laid stuff not prepreg.
Ride the cool factor while carbon sheet and epoxy is cheap I guess.
Hurrah, and good luck.

Okay, I've got a question. With the widened fenders, do you just cut and modify, or remove where the inner fender bolts up along the wheel opening?
Who you calling less exotic...:D
That's right our old cars are so different that the Porsche and Ferrari wankers find them downright exotic!
Also, T.K. I'm a little confused by your statement, are you telling me that aircraft and exotic cars are made by a bunch of workers laying resin over carbon cloth?

Hi Matt, Anvil sells extensions that have to be installed to make up the difference between the inner fender and fender opening. I have not fitted mine yet, so I'm not sure but I'm guessing the inners need to be cut back.
And to anyone wondering the quality of the part, pre-preg or not :spank2:, they are second to none. They fit perfect around the grill opening and do not suffer from the "droop" as many repop fenders do.

Thanks Ron! I've been tempted to get a set, and I am still tempted to get a set if the pre-preg stuff doesn't distort or weave like the older stuff did. I just don't want to repaint half my car...

We use Pre-preg in the comercial aerospace world. We also use a lot of other really cool stuff too. The pre-preg we use needs to be cured in an aoutclave in a vaccum bag. This ensures minimal resin and reduces the chance of having resin rich locations.

Bryce, I've actually watched parts of F22 wings being built. I had a friend that worked for one of the composites companies that had a contract on a few of the components, as well as components in the commercial aerospace industry. I had to laugh when I heard the comment about them being hand laid. One of the machines used (for the F22 wing) was probably well above 10 million, and had two people watching for defects and another person watching/running the computer program. And the autoclaves were HUGE!
Ron, stop, please. I need to stop spending money on my Camaro. :rotfl:I have to keep telling myself that it is already fast and that it doesn't need big changes.

That's right. The shop that is working on our '69 Camaro (dubbed Double Black Diamond), is none other than Starlite Rod and Kustom located in torrance, CA. Jack is an incredible fabricator and has a real good eye for blending design and mechanics. The patterns for most of these new parts were made by Jack and crew. Everybody at the shop has a great attitude and it has a cool vibe. I highly recommend Starlite!
