The seller says this is a posi and before I ride to look at it, I was wondering how to identify it outside of the housing with no axles? I found somewhere where it said the recessed ring bolts would indicate it being posi. I'm not too familiar with Ford rears, but may be able to build one for a decent price. any feedback would be appreciated.

Yes, the basic way to ID is by the recessed ring gear bolts on a stock Trac-lock. Be sure there is no hairline cracking in the metal flange betweeing the ring gear bolts.

Its a little hard to see in the pic - are those "recessed"? How much ~1/8" or so?

It is posi, but after talking to a friend that is a Ford guy I'm not touching it. It is a 9 3/8 or called 9.5 Seems it will fit a regular 9" housing with a little modification, but a lot of the parts do not transfer between the two carriers. On to the next.....
