Hey Guys,

I am almost to the point with the build in which I will need to make a final decision on my suspension choices. It's not a lot of funds left in the secret cave because my wife and I just purchased a new home and we just had a baby! My choices are Rear: Ridetech (4-link), TCP (G-bar/G-link), Heidts (4-link), TCI (3-link torque arm). For the IFS: TCI, Heidts, and Rod&Custom. I am using a 9" rear with disc brakes and the car is mini tubbed. For my powerplant I'm stuffing in a Coyote engine with a Whipple supercharger. Any input, suggestions, ideas, etc.. will greatly be appreciated!!

If you plan on having a super low ride height our Custom IFS kit is really the only one out of the three mentioned that will accomplish it and still have good ground clearance. The bottom side of our crossmember only hangs 5/8" lower than the factory engine mount crossmember. The unfortunate down side to this is that the crossmember sits higher in the frame rails compared to the others so therefore the engine/tranny must also sit higher in the compartment. That means there will be more tranny tunnel mods with our kit than the others. The Coyote is a monster of an engine so expect other things like repositioning the master cylinder a necessity. Doug's headers just came out with a header specific to this application though so that will save you some money from having to make custom headers.

As far as our rear kit, you will have to modify a few things to get it to work with a mini-tub. It's kinda hard to describe in text but we include a small 'L' bracket
that capptures the front link bar to the frame. It is designed to capture in the stock leaf location. This bracket has to be switched to inside the frame rail on a mini-tubbed car. This places the link bars on the inboard side of the rail which means that the axle bracket centers must change. Once that is done the upper coilover mount hole must be moved to keep the proper shock angle.

The guys at Precision Rod & Custom were the first ones to make this modification. Here is a pic of the 'L' bracket mounted on the inside of the frame.

I really like my TCI Torque arm. It comes with everything including X-Brace and Sub-frame connectors.

Sounds very interesting and looks like something that I would be interested in. Modifications always seen to keep me motivated as I am always up for a challenge. Thanks for the info!!

I too am in the middle of a 67 fastback with supercharged Coyote build. I went with Rod & Custom IFS, and the fit is great. I used a TKO 600 and had to modify the trans tunnel by an inch, and adjust the shifter hole, but with the Rod & Custom, if you use the Kiesler transmission, there is absolutely NO metal modifications needed. It literally bolts right in! No firewall issues, no hood clearance issues with my build either. My car was just at Borla Exhaust, and they have designed a custom set of headers and full exhaust with the 67-68 Mustang and the Coyote motor. They should be available soon for general sale.
