I poste this in my old thread but I guess it's best to start a new one cause Wow, it's been a long time since I posted on here!
Been enjoying driving the Camaro.Sold my bike.
My brother completely spoiled me and bought me a '71 GMC pickup.Soooo....now I'm contemplating selling the Camaro to fund the build for the truck....it's tough cause I'm greedy and I'd love to keep both.lol
I have bigger plans than I do money for the truck...It's going to need new doors, the fenders are somewhat fixable but new ones aren't that expensive.I'd like to get a tilt steering column, needs A LOT of suspension goodies, I'd like to put a 5.3L in it and turbo.
My favorite paint color is gloss black...but..it's a PITA to keep clean. My 2nd favorite is pearl white.Im really diggin the pearl white that's on the Mazda 3. It's bright white not that cream looking pearl white.
The truck does already have a steel cowl hood and roll pan.
We already went ahead and put some SLP loud mouth mufflers on it.Put some cool tips on it and have them exit out in front of the tire. She sounds so naughty!lol
I did however keep the stock wheels from the Camaro.Im going to paint them. The rear tires are new but Im going to throw some cheap ones on the front....and maybe sell the Camaro.
I've already got spacers to fit the Camaros wheels onto the truck, so at least I won't have to worry bout wheels and rubber for a while.I love my Camaro I really do.However I love these trucks and it's a dream come true to own one, especially the GMC.The only thing I'm not in love with about the truck is that it's an automatic, but oh well. :-/
Well, I'd like some opinions...would you guys sell the Camaro to build the truck?
My Z28...

Wow! Nice 3rd gen! Very sharp! I like the truck too! Damn, boy this is quite the conundrum.... Good job on leveling the paint, especially not knowing how much was there so you didn't cut thru it.
I can see the Camaro rims on the truck but it'll need a big drop to make them look right.
As far as selling the Camaro? What do you want to get for it? How far will that get you on the truck? It's your decision but, you need to have a plan for the truck and be aware of costs. Sit down, figure out a build plan and go from there. If selling the Camaro isn't going to get you at least 3/4's of the way through the build is it worth it to sell?

Astroracer, thanks for the compliments!! Very good advice! I will have to price out a lot of things.I am hoping to get $7,000 for the Camaro but who knows if I'll even be able to sell it. :-(

Who wouldn't want to have a driving project while working on the next one. If you can swing it, keep em both. Love the four headlight GMC's.

Both are very nice. I agree, if you can pull it off. Keep them both.
Otherwise, I think I would have to go for the GMC, SWB & 2WD = SCOOOOOORE.

Well I went ahead and made a list as Astroracer suggested. If I sell the Camaro I would be able to do all the mechanical things I want to the car.At this point I don't mind waiting on the body stuff, as long as the engine and suspension is good to go.Ill be able to do the 5.3L,trans,wire harness, cam, valve springs,Cpp 4 disc big brake kit, brothers stage 3 suspension kit, front&rear shock kit,c notch kit, fuel tank relocation kit, posi unit, gear set,and an X pipe.My total also includes royal purple oil, trans fluid, and gear oil.
I'm ok with selling the Camaro to have a set up like this on the truck. So thanks for all your help everyone.Anybody wanna buy a Camaro?lol

Whats with that slow, ugly, green thing behind the camaro? 65208

As nice as your camaro is, I think I would try to sell it and put the money in the truck. I already told Captain Cornhole what its gonna take to do a 5.3/4l60 swap into the truck (thats what we were talking about on the phone the other night)

They are both nice so you can't lose with one. But sounds like you've made already the call. I'm not sure if you can get $7000 for it but it looks really, really nice in those pics.

A side note...you might want to rethink those tinted tail lights. Older vehicles already have less than stellar lighting and dimming then may prove catastrophic. I watched a guy nearly run into the back of an accord the other night on rt295. The accord had tinted tails and I didn't see them until about 2 car lengths behind him. And my friends told me they could not see the brakes lights on my 77Z when it was sunny out before I restored them. Just a friendly warning.

Lmao, Nick!! Slow ugly thing....
Yes thank you for your help too cause there is. A lot to do.Im definately going to send out the wire harness...just sounds easier.
Bonzo- you are right, as a fellow Nj driver Im sure you know that it's nasty out there! One of the major reasons I sold my bike.I do like the look....wondering if they make an LED kit? And if that would even help... I might take that paint off, since I'm always behind the Chevelle anyways! Lol

Doing the harness wouldnt really be that hard, just time consuming, we could prob get it done over a weekend and a case (or two) of beer. All depends on if you want to spend the $3-400 to have someone else do it for you or not.

And I dont understand how your always behind the chevelle, my brother drives like an old man.

Btw if the tail lights are the same as Chevy trucks it looks like Brothers has LED ones in either red http://brotherstrucks.reachlocal.net/prodinfo.asp?number=LED72F0 or clear http://brotherstrucks.reachlocal.net/prodinfo.asp?number=LED72FC and they're on sale too.

Digi-tails also has some but they are alot more expensive http://digi-tails.com/chevrolet/trucks/1967-72

True, I just figure with all there is to do already it might be worth it to just send it out.Plus if something ain't right I can blame them! Lol
Yes, he drives like a very old man.He always has to be out front, and every once in a while he uses the gas pedal. Lol
Hmmm.... I like those clear ones!
