Hey everyone,

I'm about to get my brakes from Laramie at Precision Brakes, and had a few questions....

We ordered the 12 bolt rear kit, but now we are thinking about going to a 9". It would be an aftermarket unit from Moser (Cheaper than Strange :rolleyes5) with a GM bolt pattern. Incidentally, where are the cheapest places to pick up a Moser or Strange rear? I can only find dealers that are about $50 cheaper than direct from them.

Anyway, back to the subject. Did the kit work? Did you have to do any modification to them? Or should I just stick with a 12 bolt?

We are going to the 9" thinking about resale value. With a tricked out car, it almost seems that people expect to see that 9" lurking back there.

Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Max

With Chevy housing ends on the 9", I would think you would be good to go. I have Ford ends on my MOPAR 8 3/4" to use the SVT Explorer rear brake kit.

Has anyone atually run this setup?

Max,
Call up Mark Bybee at Western Differential in Tuscon, AZ. He builds some of the finest rearends with Custom Moser or Strange axles. He just recently put the GM 5 on 5 axles in a Ford 9" and will be able to enlighten you as to the details. Specifically in regards to Wilwood Disc conversions and offsets!! His phone number is (520)327-1747. Tell him I sent you.

Soon as you get the rear end figured out.......call me. I'll send your brakes.

Thanks Laramie.

I've never really done anything like this before...

Its a bit different than replacing an OE P/S pump.
