I have a 68 Chevelle SS. I believe the former owner put drop springs on the car but kept the stock spindles. I'm looking at buying the Signature big brake kit from the Right Stuff with 2" drop spindles to get the car the pro-touring look I want. However, I'm just wondering if in the end it will be too low and cause me big problems. My 18" tires are 25" high and it's about 25 5/8" from the ground to the center of my wheel well lip front and back. I have about 5 3/4" clearance on my headers. Can I get some opinions? I really don't want to spend all the money only to create a big headache but I really want the pro-touring look!
My car as it sits:

Pro-Touring isn't a 'look'. It's describing the way the car functions. Putting a 2" drop spindle on the front of an A body will do nothing to help the car handle better, fix the poor geometry, or fix a headache. Look at SC&C, Speedtech, DSE, and similar companies and talk to them about lowering your car the correct way.

Tyler is correct. Along with the look you are going for you can also increase the vehicles performance by fixing the the poor geometry, so watch spending money just to achieve a certain look when you can spend the same amount of money and achieve the look you want while also changing the handling.
There is many ways to lower the car, springs, drop spindles, coil over kits.. it all depends on what you want and what your budget allows. Give us a call if you would like and let us help explain the pro's and con's of your set up and how the geometry changes work.. in the meantime here is our 68-72 a-body section of our site for you browse- http://www.umiperformance.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2
I hope this helps, feel free to ask questions and we will be happy to answer them.

PS- Awesome looking car as well!
Ok lets start off, i like the idea of adding the bigger brakes (thumbs up) but stay away from the drop spindles, it creates some Geometry problems, that cant be tuned out, so does the car have stock or tube arms? some tube arms have some height adjustment(my arms had 3/4 inc of adjustment that worked out to over an inch height adjustment), if there stock maybe consider some arms, you could get lower coils from another maker or cut the coils you have, make sure to keep the sway bar level with the ground (to reduce preload) switch to shorter bump stops, and watch the shock lengths so you dont jam the shfts to max travel,

stock arms on the car now. Thanks everyone for your responses, I'm always learning, and having experienced people giving input will end up saving me money in the long run!
