Need some input big time. I found a set of four new Yokohamas in 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear at a great price. Do you guys think this size is too small in diameter for my 70 Boss Mustang? Not tall enough tire to fill the fender lines?

Second choice: Nitto 555's in 255/40/17 front and 285/40/18 rear.

The first pic is of the YOKO's.

What do you think? Performance wise, the YOKO's are probably the best, but my main concern is overall small tire height at 25" front and 25.6" rear.

The pic of the mockup tires on the car are 245/45/17.

What model yoko are those? I think I would go with the Nittos and the 18s in the rear if your budget will allow it. A bigger rim and tire would really fill the rear of that car out nicely. The 285/40s come out to be almost 27" tall vs. the 25.6" of the 275/40. I'm not sure if I'd worry about those yokos performing better, I thought the AVS sport was the best yoko had to offer for a steet tire?

Yokohama ADVAN A032R (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+A032R)

They are Yoko Advan A032R ,they are hard compound DOT racing tire.

The only disadvantage I see is maybe the small diameter. I will drive the car hard on the street and some track use and wonder if the 18's are too much for the track and more eye candy than anything else.

Here is a pic of the mini-lite wheel I like, its a 17". Maybe would go nice with a Trans-Am style theme since the car already has a Bud Moore mini ram?

Ahh, I see. I knew Yokohama made an R-compound, but hadn't seen it yet. I personally wouldn't worry about the 18s being too much for the track, especially with a 40 series sidewall. But, go with whatever goes best with the overall theme, the car will look great either way! I think those minilites look great.

Id go with the larger sizes, just because im insecure like that.IMO it looks better with more side wall.

I'm with you on the 18s. A 285/40/18 really fills up the rear wheelwells nicely and goes well with a 245 or 255 in the front.

I've got pictures of this combination on 10 and 9 inch rims respectively and it's pushing the outer limits on what will fit.

After looking at the pictures above from 1969Boss429.com, I would definitely go with option two. This guy's front tires are 245/45/17s like you indicated, but his rear tires are larger than your proposed 275s at 285/40/17.

The diameter on the front and rear tires with his set up are almost identical front and rear. Your front tires might end up looking taller than your rear tires.
