Chevy Colorado intermittent starting

Not really sure where to put this, so I figured this would be the best section.

Anyway, my friend has an 05 (I think, not 100% sure on the year) Colorado with the 5 cylinder. Every so often the engine would like bog down pretty low, and if it happened while he was turning, the truck would die. I always figured since it was a manual transmission that he just couldn't drive stick very well lol. The check engine light was on and I scanned it and got a low idle speed code, it was a month or two ago so I don't remember the number but I want to say it was like P560? I did some googling and found out that it's usually just a dirty throttle body and that cleaning it will usually fix it. Well he just called me a few days ago saying we need to fix it asap because it's gotten worse. He says every other day it won't start.

Anybody ever have this problem? Any Chevy techs out there? I'm just wondering if it's still the throttle body or if there's something else. I'm not in town so I can't go look at the truck, so I'm just trying to get as much advice as I can before I get back and can go check it out.

+1 our 06 colorado does the same thing....just won't start every once and a while. We changed fuel pump and had the truck checked at the dealership with no results. We can't get it to do it when we want to show anyone...frustrating.

The throttle body cleaning should have fixed the code P0506. The biggest problem we see with no starts is the theft system. Check to see when it doesn't start if the security light is on/flashing.

Yeah I didn't think to ask if it would crank and just not fire or if it wouldn't do anything. We should be working on it tomorrow so hopefully we'll be able to fix it. I'll be sure to check the security light if it doesn't start.
