Hey Guys, just got back from looking at a 68 camaro, It is a plane Jane 6cyl (250) auto tranny with console. the car is in really good shape. and VERY little rust. I ran a magnet over the entire car and it stuck very well. I have a couple of concerns though. First is, there is no vin under the windshield just an open rectangle the state of connecticut issued a vin sticker on the door jamb and it is currently registered. I was told that his dad the second owner of the car got in a very little accident and the radiator and radiator support were repaired. Then he said he also changed the front fenders and front bumper leading me to believe that the accident was a little more severe. Then the lack of vin made we think that the dash was also replaced. Also he is asking 16K for the car seems a little high to me for what it is. I did not see any damage to the firewall or frame but agian not sure how much was actually replaced. also the motor had no sign of orange paint. for a car with a supposed orig. 62K miles. I felt like he was being honest with me but who knows. looking for some other opinions. here is a picture from his listing

Walk away, on second thought run away as fast as you can. This is a paperwork nightmare, this car will never be worth as much as a car with a legit VIN. I would strongly recommend that you do not buy this car no matter what anyone tells you. I am in the Law Enforcement business and this will bring nothing more than aggravation and possibly loss of $$$ to you. Just my .02 though.

$16k for a wrecked, I6 with SOME rust and no proper vin? Does it have a clear title or salvage title?

I'd have to agree with some of the comments here. If you're looking at that car at 16K, ...I'd keep looking.

I forgot to mention that selling the car with no VIN is illegal, at least in Illinois it is.

He said it's got a state issue VIN sticker on it.

At half the asking price, I would say it's far overpriced. Not having a real VIN is just about the same as a salvage title, worthless unless it's a 100% race only vehicle (at least in my opinion).
