Can I run a oil breather tank off one valve cover and cap off the other valve cover? or must I vent both valve covers to the catch can?

It depends on the motor. Blow by, rpm, crankcase pressure. That being said I run lines from each valve cover to a single breather tank with at least 10 an lines. On ls motors I will run a third line from the valley cover and tee it into one of the valve cover lines. There is a lot of air in there that needs to move.

Usually you would put the catch can in the PCV hose because the intake is pull a vavuum and pulling in some oil. And to stop pulling a vacuum on the motor you will need to vent the other valve cover

Old LT1 Engine, i run 1 #10 line from each valve cover to the oil breather tank. One tip, if you have room in the engine bay try to use a straight or 45 degree AN fitting coming off the valve cover bung. This will make it harder for the oil to make it to the breather tank under acceleration, but the engine will still breath just fine. I don't have a pic of my set up on my computer here, but if it helps and you would like to see it, i will take a pic and post it.

Sorry for the wait getting the picture to you, Here is what i did, works better than any breather i ever used, i get very little oil in the tank because i use 45 degree fittings and it leaves the lines pitched up a little. The vapors still get out just fine with no oil leaks, any questions, send them along

How do you get your 45* to hook up to the valve cover? Does it just thread in, im doing a road race this summer and alot of autox so I should prolly start looking into a set up like this so I dont dump oil all over my motor.

It's an aluminum weld in bung. You will have to open the hole up in your valve cover a little with a rotary file / die grinder or what ever your tool of choice is. Then weld the bung in, Just make sure the pipe thread (npt) matches your fitting. May not be the nicest install, but this works! you would be disappointed. I used earles hose ends and the weld in bungs are made by fragola, there are other manufacturers that have them. Any other questions send them along

I'm using -8 but eventually I'll have to upgrade to -12 when the blower is installed but here's my setup. I use AN fittings which screw on from inside the valve cover with a male side sticking out, then screw on the 45 degree fitting and run em to a breather tank.

J-440 - where did you get your screw in adapters for the valve covers, that would work best for me as i really dont want to weld anything to my valve covers in case i decide to sell them and that would limit who would be interested in them, and that pic of your motor is awsome, its gives me a little chub

Thanks bro. Summit Racing is where I get all my AN fittings. Just look in the plumbing section and you'll be good to go.

That engine is very cool looking! Is that a motor plate you're running?

BadMF...yeah it's a 1/4" thick aluminum plate for a 440. Great oilpan and header clearance. I've got SBC motor mounts welded to the frame then I bolted the plate to the mounts with some tie rod bushings to hopefully dampen some vibration sent to the seats. I also put more bushings to use as shocks for the seats. Let's hope it works.
