So i just noticed the transmission pan on my 4L70E in my chevelle is like 2.5 inches lower than the frame rails on my car, is anyone else have this issue?

BTW I am using more or less stock location for the engine and using a trans cross member that is pretty much at the same height as the old one, not sure what to do about this. also the trans pan is about 3 inches deep, can anyone tell me if there is a lower profile pan for the 4l70E? google has been no help...

There is a car pan which is shallow and a truck pan which is deep. Sounds like you have the truck pan. Got a pic?

That is a link of a shallow pan pic. It does not have the step like the deep pan does.

On the deep pan there is a short section that steps to the deep section of the pan. The short pan is the same height as the short section on the deep pan if that makes sense.

I just threw a good short pan in the trash. It had been sitting in the garage for a few years. I would have sent it to ya.

The only thing you will have to change is the filter. Make sure you get a short pan from a camaro, blazer or caprice. The corvette pans are short but have a fill plug on the side which won't work. Any trans supply shop should have them for about 10-15 bucks.
