i know all about swapping later C4 and newer Vette brakes into older GM cars, but does anyone ever use the C3 rotors when doing a swap?
i'm looking for a parts combination to get 12" brakes under the 15" Monte SS wheel on my 86 Camaro, and i figured that since every C3 Vette had 15" wheels, that might be a way to go.. i'm thinking of using LS1 F body calipers and think it might work due to the way the rotor itself is offset farther back from the wheel flange than on the newer Vette stuff, but i also realize that the newer stuff is probably used due to the offset difference to make it easier to fab up mounting brackets.. but i work in a pretty well equipped machine shop, so making the necessary bracketry shouldn't be too difficult..
i also have a set of 16" GTA wheels that i know for a fact will clear 12" C4 brakes, but i want to have the flexibility to be able to use the 15" wheels with brand new tires and not have a hard time finding a mini spare that will clear the brakes..

The 11.75" x 1.25" C3 rotors are good, heavy-duty rotor options that have been proven to work quite well in the vintage racing circuits for many decades. The down side is that there are not many aftermarket performance rotor options for those applications, mostly just OE replacement grade stuff, although Wilwood did release their own C3 Pro-matrix rotors around the time they did the D8-4/6 calipers. The rotor offset is quite large on the C3 rotors, which is a good thing for wheel fitment, but possibly not such a good thing for caliper mounting brackets and interference with controls arms and such.

can you get the 12" 1LE 3rd gen brakes on it?
