67 RS Survivor

Van Nuys built car (Feb of 67).. 327/Powerglide with split bench seat, rear radio speaker and column shift.

Very unmolested and still has the original interior, AM radio and even the smog pump (and black plates). Minor rust near the edge of the vinyl top (will have to replace the rear filler panel. But damn, this car is straight.. had its original owners manual, accesory book, and GM smog propaganda book.

Plan on fixing the rust, redoing the interior with a stock feel (Bolstered Stock buckets). Engine will swap to a 383 stroker Gen I small-block I have (but it's currently helping a car run at El Mirage). Trans will be an OD automatic or maybe a TH350 and a gear vendor. Will rebuild and posi up the 10-bolt. The suspension will be simple bolt on stuff with better disc brakes.. 17 inch wheels.. nothing too fancy. I want to do some stories for those that want more of a Street Machine than a Pro-Touring super expensive car. Maybe 6 or 7 stories then done.

Anyhow, it's nice to start with a car that runs and drives (and leaks oil.. ack!)

Very nice Steve. I can't wait to see if you can really keep it as simple as you make it sound that you want to.

Installed down bars Saturday. The bodywork is done and next week we blow off the fenders/doors so the jambs can be painted. While that is going on the front subframe will get powder coated and then assembled. Full paint after that.

Are you going to be needing your grill? I'm getting kind of attached to it...

Great score on the '67 - beautiful car!

Wow I can't believe you molested what was an original camaro! So many projects out there that you could had gotten cheap, and flipped what would had been an numbers matching all original that would have fetched a lot more money stock.

However now that you are already into it, I can't wait to see what comes of it.

Actually I bought the car from Ed at Eddie Motorsports.. they used it to develop parts.. now they have a '69 Camaro.. Some billet parts did sweeten the deal but to start the stock stuff is going back on.

A column shifted bench seated RS (no SS) isn't worth much restored.. doesn't matter if it's numbers matching.. It's like saying "I have an all original IROC third gen... is blue with a red interior and it's RARE!".. lol

Hey Steve..... our suspension is a simple bolt on and fits that segment perfectly and can perform with the high dollar stuff:naughty:

Another good example of rarity not being the same as desirability.

I actually thought bench seat Camaro's were like, very rare. I mean, who the Hell would want one, but still, pretty rare.

The first First Gen that Deb and I had was a '68 - inline-6 with a glide and a split bench front seat. It was about as base as base could get but I remember looking in to the numbers and yeah - the bench was a 'rare' option... Maybe not by Dodge standards (I think every Dodge is one of 12 by the time you're done) and not rare enough to be worth anything.
