I did hear the same thing. It's supposed to end at Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ. Check this site for specifics - http://www.familyevents.com/eventinfo.asp?id=75 .

07 will probaly be from NJ to TN. What ever happened to power tour across the country, like the old days. It just seems like Hot Rod is wimping out with these short power tours. OOOOOH 277 miles a long drive. I do that just going to Denver.

What about us westerners. We got to drive 2000 miles to Drive 100 to 300 a day then 2000 miles home. I know the West coast guys are even farther.

I'm seriously considering going, since it ends 30 minutes from my house.

I plan on going, and with gas at close to $3 a gallon I sure I can convince my wife I NEED a new transmission with an overdrive.

The 2007 Power Tour will start where the 2006 tour ends. That has been planned for the last 4-5 years.

The cross country tours had only 8 long haulers the first year. 2005 has 1700 long haulers. They attract more participants on the shorter runs. At least that's their opinion.

I was able to participate in the Power Tour several times when it started or ended on the west coast. I've never had enough vacation time where I could do more than one stop, but I was happy to be on the Tour even if only for a coupla days. Then wham! No more west coast Power Tour. Did Hot Rod forget about us west coasters? It didn't bother me that the west coast stops were far apart, it's big out west! Pomona, CA to Mesquite NV? No problem! Devore CA to Flagstaff AZ? Where do I sign up? San Berdoo Ca to Phoenix AZ? Nice day's drive! San Berdoo to Kingman AZ? The drive ended too soon. Hell out west we drive 30 miles just for a good pastrami. At least I do. :ripped:

Well I had hoped of going, but with the info one where it was going to take place, there is no way I am going to drive from AZ all the way to Florida and up to Jersey then back.

I'd have to take out a loan just to cover the gas bill. :screwy:

I have to agree that I'm disappointed with the short Power Tours. Sure, the early days had fewer "long haulers", but they sure as hell earned that title. It doesn't have the same mystique for me anymore since it got all corporate and "user friendly". I read the column in Hot Rod about them bitchin' about too many late models running. I say quit givin' long haul awards to any car less than 20 years old. Make it prestigious again...

Oh, and I'm pleased to see 'em heading up the east coast finally, but at the rate they're going, they ain't gonna make it up the west coast to the northwest for another 10+ years. What I really hope is that they do a real coast-to-coast in 2007 from the Jersey shore to San Fran. That'd rule!
