Hey guys -

I've got my new VWW 17x9.5s installed on rear with 275s. Not surprisingly, it's far too tight, so I need to roll lips. I'm looking at renting the Eastwood fender roller tool versus baseball bat, etc. What else have you done to do a nice job of rolling knowing you want to save nice paint? I need to pick up a good bit lot of room so perhaps I'm cutting AND rolling.

Thoughts?

I have rolled with a ball bat and cracked paint! not a big deal as the paint was shot. I have also cut the lip. if you are cutting make sure you dont get the metal hot or the paint will bubble. I would try the eastwood roller if you can get one

Eastwood roller is built for plastic fenders and tin metal on new cars, Does not work well on Classics..

Lipnroller worked fine on my 2000 camaro. Rolled the lip flat and made about 3/8" more room. I didn't push it any farther because that's all I needed.

I rolled my 2nd gen fenders with the Eastwood roller, its a great tool! If you are concerned about paint they also sell a heat gun to "soften" things up as you roll, suppose to help chipping. It worked like a champ, but its a bit pricey. You could probably ebay/craigslist it for a good % back when you are done.
