How you do it???

I see a lot of camaros in here with the front end sitting level with the Rim!! How does it turn without rubbing? I want to lower mine but I want it streetable too. Also what is the best way to lower my 69, lowering springs? (Front).

I have a 69 with 15 x 8 rims in the front, 4 and 1/2 inch backspacing with a 225 tire. My car is lowered slightly and the tire rubs once in a while. You can leave out the one bolt at the top of the fenderwell or replace it with a buttonhead.Any larger rim or tire and you need to start changing control arms, removing or cutting fenderwells, etc.

To lower the car cut a half a turn off the spring, realign and drive the car to see how you like it.There is no formula to do this , so if you want to go lower cut small increments off the coil and drive it for a few days.Every car sits different so springs in a catolog will still need to be trimmed.

Unfortunately theres no quick method to do this , its an ongoing process. When you see a car that sits awesome it may scrape and bottom out everywhere so dont use someone elses numbers on your car.

You can pick up clearance too with the appropriate alignment. I need 1* neg camber to get the clearance I need. I also had to remove the top inner fender bolt.

Thanks, I have 17x8 Torque thrusts, I may not be able to go any lower. I am considering air bags for the front so when parked it can be lowered, and raised to drive. Looks like that will be expensive though. Thanks for your help

Rick is correct,you can also 1 to 1.5 neg. camber to bring the tire in.Also helps handling.

torq thrust are spaced out too far, look at vintage wheel works.com to find a torq thrust style rim in a zero or 1/2 inch backspace.

I just cut the front coils and de-arched the rear leafs. I am pretty sure my stance is exactly what your talking about. I dont have ANY rubbing issues. Not even on extremely hard corners or when I took the car on the raceway. It doesnt get any cheaper or easier to lower your car than what I did and it handles incredible. I even posted videos to prove it. I drive my car all the time. 4 car shows this weekend actually so its 100% streetable and still can keep up with modern cars like Corvettes and Mustangs.

Also be sure to look closely at what type of front suspension these cars that you are looking at have. Alot of the cars that you see that have big (255,275) front tires and are sitting down there are running an after market front suspension. I am running a 255,45, 17 front tire and it doesn't rub at all with the Wayne Due front end.

Reckn8 , you are killing me. I want to use those rims on my 69 but its dark green also, I dont want to clone your car! Your car is awesome, i just dont want to mimic it.Paint it lime green please.Also thanks for the rollbar photos, they helped me out.
