Hi galaxie owners..new to this forum site..it's relieving to find people that have the same car as I do..haha. I'm just curious what 65 galaxie owners used to lower there galaxies? Please help out since I can't really find anything out there for my car..I'm planning to lower my Gal but just curious what everyone is using?
Thankx Alex

that all depends on what you want out of it.
I'm using eaton detroit front springs, which i had to cut an additional 1.25 coils off of to get where i wanted.
I'm using circle track adjustable spring pockets on my rear suspension and nascar spec 11" springs. The tires i'm running are pretty tall ( 27.3" fron and 28.3" rear).
i opted for springs and shocks at first, now i wish that i would have went right to coilovers.
you could also do airbags, but you'll be fabricating, just like with coilovers. the only bolt on options are traditional springs and shocks.
you'll also want some adjustable rear arms and may need to modify your upper control arm mounting points if you opt not to figure out alternative arms.
then there are sway bars and bushings, etc etc etc etc .
the short answer is, there are no "bolt on, these will make it perform" type options.

Okay Thankx for the info..wouldn't happen to have pics of your gal would you..I'm planning to go with coil over but I still want a slammed look to the galaxie ..I've heard of ppl using QA1 coilovers for a 70-81 camero and bolting them on to the upper part of the shock mount in the front lower control arm but wasn't sure if the lower control arm can handle that for long?? Any input??
Thankx Alex

I'm still under construction. I won't be doing the final suspension adjustment to the rear until i have all the weight back on the car.
I would not use the stock lower shock mount as it sits. It was never designed to hold weight like that. you'll want to plate it and box it. if you actually want it to handle too, when you slam it, you'll need to modify the upper control arm mounts to get your spindle's range of motion as flat as possible.

I'm leaning heavily toward the coilover side now.... hell I'm actually looking at the DSE X-GEN frames too lol
My car looks slammed just because the springs are worn out lol
If you want, I'll sell you my 40 year lowered springs! How does $150 a pair sound? lol

Dude, If i had to do it again ( and I'll end up doing it again DOH!) , I would not have turned down ridetech when they offered to cut me a discount if I dropped my car off and had them R&D a coilover or air setup kit for 65-67s.
for as much as i LOVE to fabricate and figure things out, it really seems like while many thing COULD be adapted easily, NOTHING on these cars is ever as easy as it may seem. I'm starting to think that this is why so many of the galaxie builds that I've seen start, just evaporated into the ether. I should have just spent the coin and had someone else deal with the frustration points ( which probably wouldnt be so bad for someone at ridetech with WAY more suspension experience than me. )
You may want to give them a shout, especially if you have a way to haul your junk ( no offense intended :) ) to indiana. bret has made me love that company after seeing how he handles himself both on line and in person.
I'd pretty much decided that, while my car will perform 150% better than stock, Once i get settled after my move to louisiana, I'm going to hunt for a clean 66 frame. Once i have the frame, I'm going to order up some bracing from art morrison for the center of the frame, Then either full on custom fab the front & rear suspension for the car, or section the frame and use late model bits. The car will end up , at very least, with ridetech coilovers F/R, custom front arms and a rear watts link/3 link setup with a better rear sway design than i have now with a solid axle.
If I go insane, I'll shoot for adapting IRS onto it.
Once i'm done with the chassis build, I'll just be plopping the body onto it and going.
This is all probably 2 years out though, and for now, what I've done will work just fine. By the time i get to the chassis, I'll be hoping that i've burnt through the tires that I just got from track days and i'll be ready to go wider ( 335s rear and 275s front) anyway :)
BTW, I ended up ditching the rack and pinion idea. I'm running my KRC cast iron pump and a quick ratio ford saginaw box ( 12.7:1) that I got from redhead.

I don’t have a Galaxie, but a Crown Vic. And people have used springs from Speedway, something like this http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Street-Stock-Replacement-Front-Springs,166.html. Find out what you are running now and get the right spring rate and you have a 1”drop all four corners for under $250. Hope this helps a bit, or gives you an idea or two
