I have a small frame 60 amp alt now and need more amps form it. I am already gettign dimming lights and the battery has died a couple of times. Who can rebuild this to 100+?

Are you positive it IS the alternator? What car? How is the rest of the wiring? I would suggest looking thru the MAD Electric site just to verify your wiring and auxilliary components are up to snuff.

I know Summit or Jegs has rebuild kits but you would have to determine if they will fit your case.

Try PowerMaster in West Chicago IL. They may be able to upgrade your existing alternator.

Given the low cost of 10SI and 12SI alternators, I see no reason to rebuild your old alt. IMO, you would be money ahead to buy a reman and turn your old one in as a core.

Here is the current alt. I bought it in conjunction with the Canton high RPM V belt set up. I need an alt that is the same dimensions.. if it is larger front to rear it will stick out too far for the pulleys to line up. Are the 10/12 si alts small like this?

No, the 10/12si are much larger and longer. I have the same kind of alternator (denso 60 amp) on my autox Camaro, and with just an electric fuel pump, single electric fan and ignition system, it seems to just be able to do the job. Unfortunately the mounting doesn't allow for any other alternator (my setup is KRC). I run two batteries in the car to make sure it can start. Of course since it is only autoxed, the run time is short so every couple events I have to charge the batteries to keep them "topped up".

I have the same problems with mine. Elec fuel pump, fans, lights, and ignition... this thing does not do the job as is. Must have more power!

I like using CSI and CSI-D alts in 140 amp ratings
