Not what you might think.

The studs that hold the spoiler to the trunk lid have pulled out. I drilled the holes out to about 3/8ths, and want to fill them with a material that will bond to the plastic(?) of the spoiler, but could also be drilled and tapped for replacement studs. I was considering this J-B Weld from McMaster Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/118/3404/=iz6bht or this product from Aircraft Spruce: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/fixit.php

Any thoughts? Also, would I be better off with 1/4-20 or 1/4-28 studs. My thought was more, finer engagement points, but the 1/4-20 may be better with deeper threads.

I would use some type high strength epoxy to hold the bolts in and I would use stainless fine thread bolts. I think it is just really preference for the bolts, but since the spoiler is functional it will need to be strong since it has forces acting on it. Don't want it letting go on the highway. 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive is pretty good stuff.

I did this very thing to mine. Drilled them out with a 3/8 bit and cut 1/4 20 studs to fit. Use Fiberglas and the held very well.

The same thing happend to my spoiler. I cleaned out the hole and used a good quality 2 part epoxy and reused the stock stud. I have not had any more problem with the bolt.
