Hey guys...
If anybody would know where to get some info/pics of this car, you folks would...

In maybe 1996-7 a deep blue '57 Chev Bel Air car was built at Auburn Hot Rods in Washington state...The car incorporated the complete drive train/suspension/interior of a ZR1 Corvette...I remember seeing this car in maybe a couple of mags like Super Chev, or Popular Hot Rodding, and was blown away...the integration of the interior was so clean that you would have guess that it had come stock that year...Unreal fabrication to mount all the suspension stuff, ect ect ect...This car would hold it's own with some of the high end cars being built today, even though it was built nearly 16 years ago...

2 cars got me hooked on Pro-Touring... 1) The same one that blew everyone away, "Big Red", and 2) This '57 ZR1...

Does anybody have any good photos of this car?...I can't believe I can't find a full photo feature of this car anywhere...I would KILL for a build book of it...

Thanks guys, any help on getting photos of this incredible inspiration would be big-time appreciated...I am very seriously contemplating doing a similar build to my 1967 Chevelle 2 Door Station Wagon...

Do you remember it having sidepipes?

I started at PHR in '98 and I remember a feature on a '57 like that. The sidepipes set it apart at the time.

Hey Scott...

I dont remember there being sidepipes...It wasnt a huge feature, considering the awesomeness of the car in my opinion...

I think it was 1995-1996 though...

I love your wagon...I am a HUGE '67 Chevelle fan, have had at least 25 of the cars in every form possible...5 years ago I sold my numbers matching '67 SS396 ragtop back to it's original owner in New York to finance my the rest of my '67 Chevelle Wagon PT project...If you are a chevelles.com guy, there is a picture of it on the wagons section...It's that '67 wagon that was modified with El Camino doors to make it a 2 door...I've got C4 vette suspension on it with '89 Vette Rims...It's still in the wraps...Ended up having to use the $ from the ragtop sale to pay off my divorce/house/bills so I never got the thing into paint...Would love to put a ZR1 motor/trans in it if I could ever find out the specifics of this guys build...

Keep up the great work on your longroof...The car must be a BLAST to drive...

IIRC it had tan interior. I think some foreign collector who lives in socal owns it now. it went thru b-j several years ago and they did a feature on it.

Rick-

The '57 I'm thinking of was owned by an NFL player and the sidepipes were very distinct- you'd remember them if it was the same car. It was deep blue/purple and really cool. The builder opted for sidepipes to avoid fighting the exhaust under the car for clearance.

I've seen pics of your '67 2-door wagon. I thought it was the one Chuck Hansen of ACES ended up with? I guess not, obviously...but now I know there are two '67 2-door wagons! LOL!

I have had more fun with mine than I ever thought I would. It was supposed to be a goof- and just be a tow vehicle for another car I was building. Now that car is gone and the wagon is still here. It's just more functional than a more-radical car, which is why I love it. No cage, nothing trick...and it's actually comfy for 4 people to ride around in. Gets an honest 20 mpg on the freeway in 6th gear and runs on cheap gas. Yes, there are faster cars at events....no question. But it sure is fun and will run hard enough to keep big talkers honest. It's proven to be better than it should be.

I'd love to see your '67 wagon at some event soon! Post some current pics please!
