What Kind of mufflers is everyone using? Which ones will give the best sound and performance while not being so loud that it gets anoying on long drives and attracts the police? I have magnaflow magna packs on my lightning I really like the sound of them and its not that loud while crusing but on long drives it can get annoying especially for the passanger. I had bassani on my 93 cobra It sounded really good but was still a little to loud to be able to talk inside car without rasing your voice. I'm trying to figure out what I want to use on my amx I'm thinking quite mufflers with some cut out's. Also Is anyone using electric cutouts on there car?

I switched from Flowmaster Super 40's to Magnaflows on my truck. The Flowmasters always had a deep rumble and sounded good, but were loud and annoying on long trips. The Magnaflows have a much more mellow tone at idle, and really growl at WOT, but I can talk in a decent tone while cruising the interstate instead of yelling everything.

Moroso spiral flow on my LS1. 3" tubing with h-pipe and way to much resonating for long drives, but they sound great.

I am gonna be running a 575hp bbc for the first year in my Camaro, right now the engine is in a truck and I have 80 series flowmaster mufflers and it is still ridiculously loud. Does anybody know of a muffler that will keep the car really quiet and still flow good? My plan is to have the mufflers for driving around and not annoying people and attracting attention/ annoying neighbors returning late at night. Then put electric dumps, so when I wanna make some big noise I can.

I have Borla XR-1's not loud unless you want them to be. I have 3in all the way back with tail pipes and on the highway in 6th gear you get a little drone but I have not completed the interior yet

On the wagon I have the Jegs header back exhaust with their mufflers. Not real loud and no drone at highway speed.

Hooker aero chambers. Very nice muffler and cheaper than flowmaster.

I just switched from Flowmaster 40's to Pypes Race Pro's and love the Race Pro's much quieter, less rattly/resonance (inside and out), but more racy/cammy sounding, I also have an x-pipe which seems to tone things down a notch too.
Just wanted to add that the Pypes Race Pro's sound similar to the Magnaflows on my brothers cammed LS2 powered Nova.

I'm running magnaflows and they sound good and deep at idle. I ran them without any extensions for a little while and they would set off car alarms in parking lots. Then I added a 12' long taper from 3" to 2.5" and it drecreased the db level a lot and no real change in power at all, maybe even a bit more torque down low. The sound at hiway speed wich is 2,000 rpm is not too bad with no drone but it is loud enough to make a cell phone call a bit tough with my hearing but it is better when I roll the windows up. They totally scream when you get in the upper rpm or anything over 3,000 rpm.
All in all everyone thinks the car sounds awesome and since I don't have a sound system in the car it really doesn't matter to me if it is a bit on the loud side since it doesn't drone. I also have an X pipe so it probably helps.

I'm running spintech mufflers. I had a 3" flowmaster system before. I ran an x pipe on both and the spintech sounds more snappy than the flowmasters. I also found the spintech had less drone on the highway.

Theres a new muffler coming out have you heard it, i have it realy makes your head turn like flowmstr did when they first came out it has a sound like those 180 headers on a stock car .There called BlackWidow Mufflers. Its the sickest i,ve heard yet!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with Jim. I have magnaflow x pipe kit that terminate at rear valance. Nice at idle and Everyone said how sick the car sounded... but it was too loud in the car to converse or bother with music. Right around 2300RPM on throttle tip it resonated like a Huey helicopter.
I just removed the mufflers and put dynomax super turbos on the magnaflow x-pipe. It's already quieter and I haven't gone over the axle yet. They were only$40 each at jegs. When I go over the axle, I may be able to contemplate a radio for the first time in 20 years.
Exhaust is one of those things like cam choice; the kid in you wants the sick one, but experience has taught you to look at the car as a system. Balance.
Of course, cutout dumps are the best of both worlds. :-)

I have Borlas on my Supra, very nice sound with little drone but it's a turbo six blowing through turbos that may keep the racket down.
The shop cars all have Porter Mufflers, of course. They have a unique sound of there own and with the thick casing on them almost no drone on highway runs.
My Camaro has Flowmasters, what a racket on the highway and dynomat didn't help much!

I have a 2 1/2" Flowmaster H-pipe setup, but replaced the mufflers with some Magnaflows. I really like the sound, mellow at idle, plenty loud at WOT.
I think the H-pipe gives it more of an old school sound. The X-pipes that I have heard sound great, but sound more like a modern day muscle car, or something more exotic.

I have 2.5 spintechs exiting out the side... They are nice and loud, but u can still hold a conversation inside the car. Just not with the car next to you lol

I like my Borla XR1s. They have a distinct sound without being burbly like Magnaflows.
