bmw wheels on a gbody?

hey guys found a decent deal on a set of 16x7 bmw wheels , there bolt pattern is 5x120 not sure of the back spacing but any one ever run these on any gm cars???

The difference in the bolt patterns is small but widely debated. I have some that I will be running until I buy custom, but I will be running adapters that have the correct bolt patterns and fix the offset

I wouldn't do it either. Do an internet search and read about the failures. Not worth the risk IMHO.

Thanks for the link it was very entertaining to see the debate about this subject.. I didn't know that so many people do in fact run bmw wheels on there gm cars..
I don't drive the car that much at all, about 4 car shows a parade an the occasional hell ride to relieve a little stress. it turned 49K in September and it has 49,353 it right know

And how embarrassing it would be to lose your wheel while in a parade. What about during a hell ride, not good. Make sure you do the research before you make your decision. I would never do it. Fasteners should not be put in bending.

By the way, a guy on another forum I am in figured out a really cool way to change the bolt pattern of the wheel.

These wheels from XXR are the 120.5 x 5, same as a BMW. I have 1/2" studs, rears were widened to 12" and the hub machined to clear the hat on the Moser 9". I have autocrossed and run the Sandhills open road challenge with them. Jeff Schwartz has run them for a long time with no issues. Initial cost was around $125 per wheel.

Those look awesome on there.

I think you should look into the bolt pattern correction. It can be done cheaply. It is not worth potentially losing a car over something so simple.

I have been running 16 x 8 Ronal wheels on my 69 Firebird for almost ten years with no issues. I suspect that if your wheels are falling off there are other factors involved

why dont you just redrill your axle and rotor? i put a ford 8.8 in my 53 pickup with a s10 chassis. i machined the center of the factory drum out for a template so i could lay it flat on the ford 8.8 axle drilled it out. i think i used a .618 bit because they were .620 or .621 studs. i put them in the quick freeze in the shop , pressed them in and than put two tacks on the back of the studs.

uhh, 120.5 isn't the BMW bolt pattern. In fact, until your post, I'd never even heard of 120.5. I'm 100% sure there's no such bolt pattern.

To the OP, I'd say if you had adapters, it's fine. Otherwise, I'd be extremely cautious. Like most people, I figured that extra .65mm wouldn't make a difference. And for some reason, it didn't for about 3-4 years. But when I had my rear end rebuilt, it didn't take long for all 5 studs to snap on the driver's side and the wheel to go flying off on the freeway. It was pretty scary, and definitely unexpected since the stock studs lasted for years, but the point is, I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe for cheap rollers to move the car around a shop, yes, but for a driver? Especially one that sees curvy roads and the like? No thanks.

Studs do not just break for no reason.

Wrong style lug nuts
Spacers causing insufficient thread engagement
Improper torque
No hubcentric rings used if necessary
Wrong hubcentric ring
...etc.

I've drilled out lug holes and ran mag shank lug nuts, never had a problem. I have however had some studs break from loose lug nuts on stock wheels...
