I love how you incorporated the narrowed stock subframes and the upper frame sections.
Very nicely done.
Were you able to maintain a back seat?

It does handle rather good, its hard to say since i have not been pushing it. Im still in the phase of driving in the car.
I love how you incorporated the narrowed stock subframes and the upper frame sections.
Very nicely done.
Were you able to maintain a back seat?

That's cool. I have been tossing around the idea of doing this to an 86 Monte......

Very nice!!! I've got all the parts together to start this same process on my clunker. I'd love to see some more pics! Very cool how you modified the front subframe.
Was the torque tube lengthened?
Since the subframe has been narrowed, did you use the Vette power steering rack? If so, how did you shorten it?
Was it fairly easy to get shorter axles?
Thanks!

Thank you :)
Yes the torque tube was lenghtened about 13cm if i remeber correct. I used vette power steering rack but i had to modify the arms a little bit. Ill post som pics if i find some of the mods.
Regarding the axles i used The driveshaft shop. They where very helpful and mede me custom lenght axles and driveshaft.
I you have any more questions let me know..

The driveshaft shop did custom CV shafts for you? I have to connect with them. How did you go about determining the length you needed? I'm going through this now and have and idea but am curious how you did it. Also, any chance you can PM me the cost you paid. I got a quote from a company a while back, certainly not for the faint at heart... Thanks.

Do you have any pics of what you did for the frame fab process? I have been looking into what a Vette Chassis costs, & it isnt much more than what I have spent on a motor & what I was going to put in a trans. So now I am seriously debating doing the same to my Monte.
Thanks

What did you do for a gas tank?
I put the gas tank in the trunk.
The tank itself is welded by my dad.

Affirm. For the length i initially had the with of the camaro and corvette so i had a rough idea of what i wanted. I then mocked everything up with tha stance i wanted and measured... i dont remember the actual length now, but it was 7cm shorter "ISH" than the stock vette CV.
Ill give you the rest of the details on PM if i find it.

How much did you narrow the Vette cradle in the front vs the back?
Jim Nilsen

NICE !!!!!
It is amazing work you did there. The difficulties when doing the retrofit of the Vette suspensions make you a better fabricator from my experience.
One day we will have to make a thread here of all the Cormaro's. There are more and more of us all the time. I still recall the day when a guy told me that i couldn't put put Vette suspension under my car because it wouldn't fit. My reply was that it was too late and it is the only thing that will fit now,LOL. That is unless I really wanted to change it to something else!!!
Good job, and from my experience the extra wheelbase length really makes the Cormaro's have a much smoother ride than the original vette wheelbase without any adverse effects of handling and it just may be better.

Jim is like one of the first guys to do the Vette under the first gen Camaro..
