I was wondering if anyone has done a pump with remote resevoir on anything other than a Chevy, Olds 455 in particular. I'm assuming any Saginaw type II pump would work as long as my brackets and pullies aligned? I've heard of some people using Pontiac sunfire ps pump, but I'm assuming thats with Chevy's. I'm getting the hoses and fittings for my hydroboost and I wanted to get enough for a remote setup if its at all possible. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'd be very interested to see what you come up with. I'm about ready to work on the front accesory drive and would love to lose the old saginaw PS pump. I'm probably going to scab a junkyard pump and fab up some brackets on the mill or out of aluminum plate.

I'm running the speedway motors equivalent of a type II pump and a remote reservoir on a 455 olds block. Probably not helpfully since I'm running a front plate but if you need specifics I'd be Happy to give them. I bet it was a 20lb savings over the old saga pump and I have awesome steering!

That motor you have is just NASTY!!! I see your motor plate, not something I was looking at doing, but I would love some details on the pump. Wondering if I could use that pump and just have some brackets made?

Thanks, it was a lot of work and not cheap but sure is blast to drive! Here is the kit I boughthttp://www.speedwaymotors.com/Power-Steering-Pump-Combo-10-AN-Fittings,33011.html and I just threw away the pump mount after tracing the pattern on my motor plate.
You can definitely make your own mount, just get a chunk of 1/2" of aluminum and cut it out with a jig saw or even better a router if you have one. The mount for my remote reservoir was just done that way from a piece of cardboard (except 1/8" plate since there is no load on it).

i'm getting ready to install a type 2 pump on my 455, but i'm mounting it to a front plate and not to the block itself. if you're trying to go to the block or head it shouldn't be to big of a deal to make a bracket and some spacers to get everything lined up.

Yeah, I'm not using a front plate as I'm going with a manual water pump. It would be so much easier if I was using a plate though. I PM'd a member here that had a bracket made, I'm just waiting for a reply and info.
