View Full Version : Dash painting on finnished car
Hi, I have a '69 camaro that has body colored (red) dash top and front.
I really want to change it to a more original look, satin black.
Has anyone done this on a finnished car with the windshield still in?
Also what spry can paint is the best to use , UV resitant?
I've searched some and found some have used SEM satin black 15243.
Thanks
Denny
not sure about the top of dash on the 69 camaro, but 67-68 camaros were black wrinkle finished to reduce sun glare
Yeah I think it's called Suede black.
I would be fine having the top and front a satin black, I just want something good that will not fade or flake

honestly, to do it right, the dash has to come out. Otherwise, there is no way you'll be able to prep it properly.

Mine was sprayed gloss black by the PO with the windshield in and looks terrible. I will be fixing it when I start paint work because I can't stand it.

I was told rustoleum 7777 was and exact match for the black satin interior. My whole dash is done already in the correct satin, but I need to paint the glove box I did a test spray and it finishes nice. Here is the paint I bought, but you can get it in a spray bomb as well.

Yeah I've been doing a lot of searching and people are using the rustoluem 7777, or the SEM 15243.

I used John Deere Blitz Black it is a satin finish that is increadilby durable since it is used on tractors. A lot of rat rodders use Blitz Black on their rides.
