here is an over view of my project. doing a twin turbo ls2 with a viper t56 for the go. i have already made a new 2x3 rear frame to house a 350z irs and will be removing the entire floor pan and firewall. by the time i chop it up to fit the new frame, there won't be much left and if i make a new floor, i can have a flat bottomed car since it will be irs.
i have recently decided to buy an aftermarket bare front subframe. it will make grafting to the rear frame rails much easier and have a better overall look and performance. i already have aftermarket control arms, z28 box, afx spindles, z06 brakes, so i would need to find a subframe that can utilize all the stock parts. i am running a 19x10 front (in c6 z06 fitment). my budget for it looks like i am pretty open, but not all subframes can use stock parts. i will be channeling the frame and with entire floor pan gone, there is obviously lots of custom work happening.

here is one i have been looking at. anyone have any experience with this piece? http://srdparts.com/index2.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=&product_id=18&category_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=5

car is getting fully caged and tied back in also. need room for a/c too in new subframe.
if anyone is capable of making one without frame mounts, but everything else, i am open to that too.

Some of your parts won't swap over, but I am looking at Scott Mock's subframe. It uses C5/C6 Control Arms and uprights, the Z06 brakes would bolt up easily, has allowances for an LSX engine and use a Fox body Mustang steering rack. It is one of the best deals going in my estimation. You would have to sell off your current Control Arms and AFX spindles, but you should be able to get most of your money back out of them. Most of the aftermarket subframes (Art Morrison, Mock, Jake's Rod Shop, not sure about Schwartz or Roadster Shop selling just subframes) I know of are going to use C5/C6 components other than DSE or Speed Tech.

i am not totally against selling off my stuff. i have the gmp adjustable coilovers also. so i could easily have the money to buy c5/6 suspension if i sold all of my stuff.

IMO, you would be better off buying a complete subframe with components that are designed to work together as opposed to assembling it piece meal. That said, I have been extremely pleased with my DSE subframe.

well any of the subframes could be considered piece mealed. some based on stock parts, some based on corvette parts. had i known the project was going to get this far out of hand i would have done a subframe to start with. but, as we all know, projects grow!! haha

anyone had any experience with the srd subframe? looks like it may be more set up for drag racing, but i like the weight savings and motor plate design. it would give me more room to plumb the turbos. my car will be fully caged, so it may work good if tied into cage and be strong.
