Ok guys I have a 8-71 blower kit from the blower store that I want to build for a different project what I was wondering is what you all recommend as far as compression ratio, head flow ratings for polished aluminum heads, cam lift and duration and carb flow running duals I want to be around 900-1000 hp on a 454 that I will be boring.30 over also what pistons do y'all recommend for this application flat tops, dome, ect I am not an expert by no means and the guy that usually builds my motors is a genius on this he actually designed pistons for NASCAR for a while is tied up on a job for about 3 months and I want to get this done relatively quick thanks for any help

You should try posting this question over at clubhotrod.com. There are some knowledgeable engine builders who post frequently over there. They seem to still be all about the old small blocks and big blocks.

No dome pistons. You need to connect w an engine builder that has experience w blower set ups that can guide you. Things like a proper blower cam, SS intake/inconnel exhaust vales, the right rings. Compression should be no more than 8.5 in my experience. More HP will come from a larger blower that can move more air at less RPMs than an 871 would. Don't forget to intercool as heat is the enemy in both HP and longevity. Lastly, a 454 making 1000hp is > 2.0 hp/CI. This will require turning up the boost above 10 psi for sure.
I put an intercooled 1471 on a 588 and made right around 950hp on the dyno. 7-8 PSI @ 6000 rpms. Nice easy set up, over 900 tq @ 4000 rpms.

Thanks for the responses I have a guy that is top notch in blowers and engines in general he has wrote many books on how they function and all but he just got promoted at his day job and they transferred him out of country for 3 to 4 months and it's so hard to get in touch with him
