My son and I pulled the 10 bolt, single leaf rear end from his 69 Camaro Coupe (unbolted at the shackles and pockets) and installed it directly into a 67 Camaro Convertible. Now the car is sitting way to high. I have a set of Hotchkis leaf springs that we were planning to put in the 67, but was hoping to hold off for a bit and I'm worried that there may be something else going on. Anyone have any idea why the car would sit so much higher?

Here's the 69 before we dis-assembled...

Here's what the 67 looks like (note that there is no fuel tank or cvt top, but I did sit on the back end and it didn't help much

Did you tighten all the bolts before it was sitting on the ground with weight on the springs? Also, the car is not complete. Seats, glass, gas tank, bumpers etc will all cause it to drop.

We left the shackle bolts (top and bottom) loose, but the car didn't settle. I'm a pretty big guy (over 200 pounds), do you really think that the tank, cvt top, etc weighs that much more then me sitting on the back trunk lip? I could have a couple of buddys sit on it where we have 500+ pounds...any idea how much weight is missing (only the deck lid is installed). Also, I don't have the corner weights installed. Would be great to find out that I am panicking for no reason!

Never worry about ride height until the car is completed. It's easy to change, easier to get wrong along the way.

This, you'll be pretty surprised how far it'll come down once you finish it.
