LS Engine?: No, but would make an amazing swap!
As much as I regret doing this, I have to sell this gorgeous piece of Japanese automotive history. Up for a sale is a totally stock, 1997 240sx SE.
There were only 3655 240SXs made in 1997, making this one of the more desirable years. Also, considering that so many of these cars have been turned into race cars, drift cars, and have generally been abused, this one is a true survivor.
The car is absolutely, 100% rust free. It has spent all of its life in Tennessee, where rust is not a big concern. It is the SE trim, which is the middle package, but has ABS.
This car would make an amazing starting point for a LSx swap, RB swap, or just to drive stock. Great for your teenage driver, since it has great style, but not a great deal of power.
The Good
This car is totally stock with the exception of the stereo head unit. While it has about 150K miles, most of those have been on the highway. The engine does not smoke, make any funny noises, and runs very smoothly. The transmission shifts firm and without any hesitation. The A/C blows ice cold. The tires are about 2 years old. About a month ago, the water pump and belts were replaced. The body has no major damage other than the front bumper cover (pictured). There are a few door dings and minor paint scuffs, but that is to be expected for a 15 year old car. The paint is still shiny and cleans up beautifully. The interior is absolutely immaculate. There are no rips or tears in the seats or in the headliner. It has also never been smoked in. The stock floor mats are also included.
The Bad
There are a few minor problems. The driver's side lock is not working (this will be fixed). On the passenger side, the inside door lock button has fallen inside the door panel (this will get fixed). The A/C button does not stay on. However, it works fine using a paper clip. Also, the trim surrounding the A/C vents is loose. The "check engine" light is on. I have checked the code and it is the MAF. I cleaned the MAF and will see if that makes the code go off. I will not replace the MAF because the car runs great and does not go into "limp mode".
The Ugly
As mentioned earlier, the front bumper has a hole in it. The story is that the previous owner hit a truck with a trailer hitch. She was able to stop before hitting the whole bumper, but the trailer hitch punctured a hole in the front bumper cover. I checked online and a new front bumper cover is about $250. Also, as seen in the pictures, the front windshield trip is loose on the passenger side. I have a new, complete trim piece on order and this will be replaced.
The car is located in the Memphis, TN area, but I will deliver the car within 600 miles of Memphis for $1 per mile. You are also welcome to arrange your own shipping.
