I am fairly mechanically sound as far as I consider myself a good parts changer, not a mechanic but have changed entire front end, rear end, springs, transmission, body bushings etc. SO my question is how difficult is it to install one of these kits with all the kibble and bits? Is this something I can do or should I let a professional take care of the install? All opinions on difficulty of install are greatly appreciated!

It is not that difficult. Vintage Air instructions are quite good. You can download them from their website to get a good idea of what is involved. Only tricky part is finding someone to crimp your hoses. Napa is a good place.

That is what I thought but I have learned never assume anything is a direct bolt on, thanks for the advice especially on the downloadable instructions!

I built my first car recently. I had never done anything like this sort of instal. I read the instructions a few times to get a feel for the process and it was a breeze. I got it right the first time other than the fact that vintage sent me the wrong CPU. After 2 hours on the phone with their tech support the figured it out. I sent back the CPU and they sent me the right one. Then it was plug and play. If you call tech support, you will have to leave a MSG but they will call you back. They have me every time.

I found removing the fender & related parts and reinstalling them to be more of a pain than installing the vintage air. Tape everything. Just dont get in a rush. I say go for it. Scott

It's not hard to do. it is time consuming. The instructions are great and as long as you think everything through you will be fine.

Well I actually have the fenders, seats and windshield out for repair of the channel, which is replaced but every step forward I have gone backwards as before I put the windshields in I want to install a new cloth headliner I am having made but before I do that I am having 3 point shoulder harnesses installed from a 98 camaro in the rear and from a colorado in the front while hiding the retractors in the rear side panels and retracting through what used to be the ash trays. Actually a great idea. This will be more cost effective than buying the sets made for 67-69 F-body's that costs 700 for the set, too rich for my blood so why I had this all out I was going to add the AC and my mechanic who installed my motor will do the AC for around 500 but I thought I could do it as I need to save all the bones I can for additional projects to the 68 bird. All this started 5 years ago with a TPI swap then I had to fix the channels but that led to new floor pans which then led to global west upper and lowers and then new body bushings then new Hotchkis front springs and then Hotchkis rear springs. So I am trying to make it a daily driver and AC Is a major must in Georgia!!
