Hello Guys, I am new here. I am building a new truck and was told that I should post this here. I have this build going on another forum but here are my posts to date:
May 17, 2012
I have never built a 2WD truck before so this is a first for me.
My plans are to build this into a pro-touring / pro-street truck that is streetable and fun. I plan a future pro-charged LS3 engine swap but the stock 4.8 will have to do for now.
Here is what the truck looks like when I bought it 2 weeks ago

Here are some pictures of some parts I have started to gather.

I finished lowering the front tonight. I have it dropped 4" right now. I will put it at 5" when I finally get my new wheels in. I put drilled and slotted rotors, new brakes, ball joints, and tie rod ends on while I had the front end apart.

The tires almost touch right now. My new wheels have more offset which should tuck them in a bit more.

Once everything on the truck is done, I will take it apart and paint everything.

Got the new wheels in! Wheels are Fuel Hostage 20x14 and 20x9. The front tires are a bit short for my liking so I will most likely switch to some 275/45R20 tires which should give me about 1 inch more height than the 275/40R20. (Edit: I did not change. Springs settled a bit and I think they are perfect.)
I own a precision rifle company so this truck will have a sort of military theme to it hence the sharp "edgy" black wheels. Final color of the truck will most likely be flat tan with satin black accents.

Now time to take the bed off and tub the back!

Time for some updates!
I removed the bed and cut the back of the old frame off last weekend. I thought this would take longer than it did so I did not buy any steel for the frame. I had this done by Saturday afternoon. So much for the long weekend...

This weekend I got the steel for the back of the frame and started cutting and assembling!

I made the bed mounts out of extra frame material.

Getting everything level and square...

Got the rear end set up on Thursday. Specs on the diff are:
Yukon third member
Richmond 4.33:1 gears
Strange 35 spline spool
Moser 35 spline axles
Billet yoke and pinion support (don't know the brand...)

Started this afternoon installing the rear axle. Picture shows the top links installed. Still waiting for some of my lower link brackets to show up... I screwed up and put the shock mount cross tube directly over the diff so it had to be removed. I will clean it up and weld in the new frame cross bar. Fuel cell is mocked up for proper location.

Progress update:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/07/truck80021-1.jpg
I got most of the fuel system put on this weekend. I had to order a couple more AN fittings for the return line but that should be done this week.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/07/truck8005-1.jpg
I custom built some fuel tank straps and got the fuel cell installed.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/07/truck8019-1.jpg
I also got the shocks installed and the panhard bar put on. The truck is sitting on its own now!

Next week I will disassemble everything and get it all painted nice! I hope to be able to move the truck under its own power as well!
Nice project. Welcome to the site.

Hey Guys, It has been awhile since I updated the progress of the truck. I got side-tracked with some other hobbies this summer/fall but I finally buttoned up the back of the truck.
Here are some photos of the truck:

Next is the engine, trans, and exhaust. I hope to have those going by February/March.
Thanks for looking.
