did I blow my tranny?? The GUY that did my swap ended up cutting a lot of corners and got in over his heaD.I ended up picking my ride up after paying him and he didnt do all he promised..
lONG story short you get what you pay for. So when picking up the car he hadnt hooked up shifter so there was no way to know if tranny shifted correctly it stayed in neutral, so we pushed it on the trailer and I got it home, assumed I could shift it in gear from the shift lever(dangerous I know)and drive it into garage.Didnt work put it gear and it would die. Idles great once in gear died. Oh and the transmission wiring harness is not hookedup(didnt know I needed one to just recently...apparently nor did he..)He mentioned that I needed about a quart and half of tranny fluid, so after researching online I FIGURED that would be the fix. So I got shifter and shift cable installed shifted really smooth. added fluid and went to crank the car. I cranked it let it idle for about 30 secs and reveved it the car lunged forward,so I applied the parking break and reveed to keep it from dying...I heard something leaking kill the igniton and looked under car..tranny fluid all on the ground everywhere....Looked at the shift lever the car was in d1 or d2 and I didnt realize it.. So I put it in park cleaned the mess and tried to crank it again and shift to drive nothing happened but more fluid came out...So did I just blow my tranny..4L60E by the way

I doubt you hurt it bad enough to cause a catastrophic leak... Sounds like your "swap" guy didn't get all of the cooler lines tightened up or installed. Also check the dipstick for a missing o-ring. Make sure you know the trans LEVER is in park position before hooking up the cable. Sounds like it's out of sync with the shifter.

Did you run-in the trans on 1-1/2 quarts or did you add 1-1/2 quarts. You can always smell the fluid. Regardless, it sounds like you were working with a particularly unqualified shop. You should strongly consider having the engine and trans checked before attempting to break them in. That means pulling valve covers and oil pan to check the engine and having the trans opened up. Don't shoot the messenger, but that baseline is important.

Otherwise, test / break in the trans with the rear wheels on jackstands. At the very least, drop the pan drain as much fluid as possible, have a look at the pan for fragged its, then seal it up. That will put you in control of how much fluid is in the unit. As for the harness, you NEED a tps signal for line pressure and you need VSS (plug at the tailshaft) for the thing to shift.

Vss is installed at tail, but need MPLS wiring harness and the TPS
