Hey Guys, getting close to having all the stuff I need for my LSX and need to figure out what oil pan I am going to use and I am looking for recomendations.
Need to have Road Race baffling, would like to keep original oil filter location, and needs to fit an 68-72 A-Body, and needs to clear a 4.250 stroke with H-Beam rods.
I was looking at the Mast motorsports pan, but looks like it does not bolt up to the trans like the factory pan, so I am a little iffy on that one since I would have to come up with a custom dust shield.
Let me know what you guys recommend/know about....

I don't know of any aftermarket pans that will bolt to the trans. Either way, the factory uses little plastic covers to cover the holes on either side of the bellhousing to keep rocks and birds and stuff out.
Like Parsons says, a baffle that will keep oil around the pick up will keep it away from it as well. Look for something with trap doors.

That's basically what I am looking for, but not having much luck finding one.

Something like this http://champpans.com/index.cfm?event=productdetail&id=194 I have no experience with this pan so I can't say good, bad, or otherwise.
FWIW, I am going to try the factory LS7 2 stage oil pump setup with an ARE pan. These motors are too expensive to not do everything you can to protect them.

Do you have an LS7 crank? I think the 2 stage oil pump needs an extended snout crank.

I don't even have an engine yet......But yeah you need the LS7 crank.
I have read every thing I can find about LS eninge failures related to oiling, it seems that the biggest problem is all of the oil ends up in the top of the motor and what is left crawls up the side of the pan and away from the pick up. The ARE pan scavenges better and LPE and some others are selling reworked pumps to scavenge better. Should be the answer for me anyways.

LS3 Grandsport Coupes also have a dry sump but in the 3.622" stroke.

Good looking pan that Champ one, I just have to figure exactly where the motor is going to sit.
Keep us posted with how it goes Greg.
