Hi everyone. I am trying to install a simple shift transmission controller onto a 98' 4r70w which is mated to a 2011 Ford Coyote 5.0 . The 5.0 is throttle by wire. The instructions say DO NOT tie into the tps but to contact the dealer. The instructions say a separate tps sensor needs to be added. Does anyone on here have any experience with this? I'm not a electronics guy, so I had been hoping that this was all plug and play, but that is not the case. It's the long weekend of course so I can't get ahold of Ford or Powertrain Control Solutions, to try and get any resolution. Thanks for any help. Peter

Quick update but still looking for some advice. I have been told to just tap into the 0-5 volt wire at my throttle pedal. While testing the closest that I come is about .8-3.8 volts through pedal cycle. Is this an acceptable amount of reference? I assume it is fine for the motor, but is this [shortened] reference good enough for my simple shift trans controller? thanks

Page 10 of the installation guide shows a throttle calibration process. I would infer from this that it is learning your max sensor value, and will know you are at WOT when it sees that value. Given that calibration process, I'd wire it up and if it passes calibration you should be good.
Note that you have to repeat that calibration anytime you lose 12v power to that module. That's a pain, but very important to remember...

Thanks again Ian!

That is an acceptable range, for sure. More resolution from a wider range will make the throttle a little less jumpy, but that range should work just fine.

One other thing to remember is that many pedal assemblies have two tps sensors. It is important to make sure that the tps you tap into goes up in voltage with increased throttle.
